Free Ministry Studies

I am 24 years old and just got engaged to the love of my life. I currently live in New Mexico and I am receiving free ministry studies at Christian Leaders Institute. I am an Emergency Veterinary Tech at VCA. I came to know the Lord when my parents took me to church every Sunday. I was baptized and went through confirmation. I was selected to be a United Methodist Woman, part of the fishermen, the Vacation Bible School Director for three years, help in the nursery, etc.

My dream is to show and tell and teach the Word of God to people. I think this is what I am truly meant to do with my life. I learned so many different things from my Christian Leaders Institute free ministry studies thus far. I have learned how devotions work and what I should do daily. I have also learned how I need to walk with God daily and find strength in Him. I believe that I can do this with His help. I want to pray more and study the Bible more. I am learning new habits in my daily life.

The word Pastor is what I identify more with. What prompted me into ministry is the “Love Comes Softly” book by Janette Oke and watching Christian movies. I desire to be an inspiration, support, and hope for the many people and society who are lost and searching. I have not told my Church family about my call yet. I hope to show them I can do Christian Leaders Institute classes and earn certificates and a degree. I believe they would be very supportive of me.

A scholarship at Christian Leaders Institute is important because I want to develop great study habits as I learn from the great material at a college/university level. Through this opportunity, I have hope for my future in ministry work where ever God leads me.

Pursuing Evangelism Training

Christian Leaders Institute (CLI) offers the ability to earn a scholarship for high-quality online ministry training. This training allows you to follow your dreams. CLI accepts any individual anywhere in their life to learn about Christianity. Read a student’s testimony below who is an Emergency Room nurse who found CLI and is using the scholarship for pursuing Evangelism Training.

My name is Tara. I live in the United States and work as an Emergency Department Nurse in the state of New York. I used to think that being a nurse was my calling. I got into nursing because I wanted to help people. As the years went by, I realized that I was seeing far more death, major illnesses and people at their lowest points in their life than any person could possibly help. I began to feel extremely frustrated. I had worked so hard to be the best nurse I could be but still felt like I was not making a difference.

At the same time, I was also searching for God. I had been raised as a Catholic but although my family dropped us off to Sunday school on Sunday mornings we did not live a life based on biblical principles and never ever read the bible. I eventually walked away from formal religion. I studied on and off with other denominations but never truly committed myself to God. It wasn’t until I was in my early 30’s and already the mother of 3 children that I found Jesus and was saved.

My husband and I have both felt the call to ministry for a while now but with 3 kids, student loans and full-time jobs we had no idea how we could possibly afford the training needed to do what God has been calling us to do. After exhaustive online searches, I came across Christian Leaders Institute. At first, I had to check to make sure that this opportunity was not “too good to be true”. After realizing that CLI was legitimate, husband and I both enrolled.

I feel a calling to Evangelism and local outreach as well as missions. While looking for a mentor we were invited by a pastor from the church we were attending to help him plant a church in the local area where we live. (We had been attending church 45 minutes from our house). The Pastor we are now working with has asked me to be in charge of the local outreach for the new church! This has truly shown me that it has been God that led me to find CLI and plans on using my husband and myself to help plant a church in a spiritually starving area to spread the Good News!

Finding this training at CLI has brought renewed excitement and confidence to my ministry. It has allowed me to pursue Evangelism Training and follow my dreams. The fact that my husband and I were approached and asked to join in building a new church has been a humbling and overwhelmingly joyous experience. Having my husband now be part of CLI is also a uniting experience for us because we motivate each other and we are finding ways to include the kids to show them the joy in serving Christ and following his commission to become “Fisher of men”. (Matthew 4:19)

Please pray for me as we enter into uncharted territory in our ministry. Living in the United States offers the challenges of the overwhelming acceptance of materialism and immorality. People fill the emptiness in their hearts that only Jesus can fill with material objects or immoral behavior and then can’t understand why they still feel empty. Many may have attended a church during the holidays or for a wedding or funeral but reading the bible and having God have a place in day to day living is not a regular occurrence. Please help us pray that we are able to reach the hearts of people who are starving for the Gospel.

I am currently living in the United States. I was born and raised in Jasper, TX where I reside now. I am one of five siblings all deceased, except one. I am the wife and a mother of six: Lariesha, Dewanda, Melinda, Beatrice, Elton Jr; and Carolyn who passed away on September 2016. My husband Elton & I have known each other since 1978. We separated for a while & we reconciled in 1999. I accepted Christ at an early age, although I backslid in my adolescent years which led me to a life of substance abuse and prison. I rededicated my life back to Christ in Federal prison in 1997. Today, I am saved, sanctified, and filled with the power of the Holy Ghost. A praying woman who loves her family and reaches out for lost souls and do all I can to be true to the call of God. When I got out of prison, I went back to my former leadership of an Apostle in Jasper, TX where I served for 17 years. I taught adult Sunday school, Bible study groups. I was an event coordinator, and I obtained great blessings by submitting myself to this leadership. I was a very faithful servant, witness, and a true ambassador for the Lord. I went back to school in 2004 and I achieved an Associate and a Bachelor Degree in Psychology from University of Phoenix online campus, I also, achieved a degree in the New Testament Study from World Bible College, and a Master Degree in Religion from Liberty University.

In 2011, God called me out of that ministry and gave me a charge to start an outreach center here in Jasper TX. It is called “Try Jesus Outreach” where many have come and accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The outreach commission was to reach out to family first and then to spread abroad. My family plays the biggest role in the ministry for me because my greatest desire is for all of them to experience a true relationship with Christ, to be saved, and to serve him with gladness. We are still on that commission today. God charge me to freely give to others as I have freely received of him. The ministry dream I have is to be able to lead people into the agenda of God for their lives by teaching them biblical principles and leadership tools. This class in CLI’s evangelism ministry training has renewed my connection with God, I have been able to relish my relationship with him, making me feel confident that I can mentor others. I believe Christian Leadership Institute can train me to be effective in leadership and also allow me to help others lead. My goal is to make disciples for Christ. I identify with the word “Evangelist,” although I am an ordained Pastor. I see myself as being an Apostle planting churches and leaders in various places. I have dreams of going all over the world, spreading the good news. I am a witness of how God has pointed me in the direction of doing the work of an Evangelist, as well as leading my family and others into the agenda of God for their lives. CLI’s free evangelism ministry training will allow me to follow these dreams.
My family is very supported and I am so thankful to God that they are and they have willing minds. I have a few churches here in Jasper who are supported and leaders who are my mentors as I study to become a great leader through Christian Leadership Institute.  Please pray with me that I will fulfill God’s will for my life and help others to learn of Christ and his ultimate sacrifice of love. Pray that I will be equipped to lead them into his purpose for their lives and pray that I am a living example to them.

Fishing is a hobby I enjoy. I have, over the years, been able to find time to go fishing even if things were rather busy for me. It is a relaxing, meditative time. I can be quiet and calm, and enjoy the creation as I wait for the fish to bite on my hook. As a proverbial little saying puts it, “A bad day fishing is still better than a good day at work!” Here in my region of the world, we are just coming on toward spring. The lakes are thawing from their winter ice cover. And, below the surface of the lake, the fish are getting ready to spawn. So, here in Michigan, we have rules about when the fishing season opens. One cannot disturb the mating of the fish or they will soon be depleted by over-fishing. But, that does not stop us fishermen from looking forward to the day when the fishing season opens for us to pursue our hobby.

Called to be a Fisher of Men

Fishers of MenI know that some of you who are reading this are fishermen by trade. You earn your living at fishing. Fishing, for you, is much more than a hobby to be occasionally engaged in – it is an everyday endeavor. In those terms, you are much like some men I read about in the Bible than I am. We know then as Peter and Andrew, James and John. These are the first men that Jesus called to be his disciples.

The story goes like this (see Matthew 4). Jesus had been subjected to a period of temptation by the Evil One in the wilderness. Upon returning from the wilderness, Jesus heads to the area of Palestine we know as Galilee. It was the geographical area in which he had been raised. His hometown of Nazareth was found there. It was also the place where there was a large inland lake called the Sea of Galilee.

The sea is formed as the Jordan River runs south from the hills to the north. It enters a large area where it flows slowly in the currents of the 64 sq miles (166 sq km) of the lake. What is interesting about the lake is that it is nearly 700 feet (210 m) BELOW sea level. The Jordan River takes up its course again as it flows south from the lake to finally end up at the Dead Sea. The Sea of Galilee is a place where, in Jesus’ day, a flourishing fishing trade was found. The ancient historian Josephus tells us that 230 boats were regularly out on the lake engaged in fishing for a living.

Jesus Said, Follow Me.

Among them were two boats owned by the brothers Andrew and Peter, and the brothers James and John. One day, as these men were washing their nets at the water’s edge, a man came along and simply said, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” What happened is that these guys to whom very few paid any attention in the religious world, these guys simply left their boats and followed Jesus to become fishers of men. These men formed the heart of the group of disciples of Jesus. They as men trained to be fishermen, would become the great leaders of the church as it was born. One could almost say that Jesus and these men formed the first edition of Christian Leaders Institute!

Free Ministry Training

Jesus took people as they were and trained them to be the leaders of his church. He did not ask them for a payment of tuition. He carefully taught them the truths of God. He sent them out to practice. Then, when they came back, he went over how things had gone for them in their efforts to put into practice what he taught them. Their training often centered in the towns around the Sea of Galilee, so they were not asked to relocate to a different area hundreds of miles away.

The way Jesus worked is still going on today. At Christian Leaders Institute, we are discovering how many people are busy in an occupation when Jesus comes along and gives them a new vocation (a calling) to be a person who is a fisher of people. Listen to one of our students,

I am Roslin Marcelus. I was born in Haiti. I am married and father of three. I have a degree in automotive from the New England Institute of technology and a Bachelor of Science at the University of Bridgeport. I have a Master’s degree in Global Development and Peace. I have also earned a certificate in human resources management.

When I approached the Christian Leaders Institute website to start learning about ministry, I did not have in mind that it would be a hands-on training opportunity. I was offered a way to personally improve my relationship with God. Now I am starting to understand my mission. I want not only to serve God but to be able to be an instrument that helps others come to know the Savior, Jesus Christ. The Year 2014 will a new beginning as I pray the Lord to guide me to the next step.

So here is a man who is busy at his occupation and along comes Jesus and calls him to become a fisher of men. It is a great privilege for us all as the staff of CLI to be engaged in doing the training which is needed for these individuals to become the best servants of Jesus they can be. Here they learn of their mission as Jesus calls them, not to give up their life’s work, but to see it embellished with the added joy of going fishing!
