Montserrat is a lovely island in the Caribbean. Montserrat has been ravaged by an active volcano for the past 18 years, so much so that only one-third of the island is habitable. Just over 5,000 people still live on this island. About two thirds of the population fled when the active volcano destroyed the capital city of St. George. Montserrat is very poor with the per capita income of its residents very low. This is a place that needs Christ. The Free Montserrat Bible Schoolisland is so remote and poor. How is this island going to be able to support a high quality Bible School?

The Internet has allowed CLI to offer a free Montserrat Bible School for the people of this island. A student of Christian Leaders Institute who has already received the Christian Basics Certificate is Toney Allen of Montserrat. He has been married for over 12 years and has twin boys. Tony has been serving the Lord for over the past 21 years. He wrote,

I have been serving the Lord with gladness and I have no regrets when a girlfriend who was a Christian invited me to church that Sunday in October in 1992. For it was at that quarterly service that Jesus miraculously transformed my life. To God be the glory!

Free Montserrat Bible School Needed

As a result of the work of Christ in Toney’s life, his dream is to see many souls experience this same transforming power of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Over the years, the Lord has been moving Toney from one position to another. First, youth leader, then deacon, then board member, then assistant pastor, and then pastor.

Toney is motivated and called to ministry. He said,

I have been driven by a deep passion to see souls be translated out of the kingdom of darkness and into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son. In my own life I was lost and destined to hell and if the Lord didn’t save me when He did maybe I might have been lost for all eternity! I knew I had to pursue ministry to be “a voice of one crying in the wilderness prepare ye the way of The Lord.”

I recognize that a lot of people in my nation seem to think that they are saved and are on their way to heaven even though they continue living as they please. Hearts have become hardened to the Gospel because they have heard it so many times before. Nevertheless, I continue to proclaim the Good News.

What support does Toney need to be an effective revival leader in Montserrat? He needs CLI a Bible School in his area. He could not afford leaving the island for seminary. The church needs him to stay here. Because CLI offers online free ministry training it is part of a free Montserrat Bible School that brings high quality ministry training to him.

Toney is thankful that CLI is further equipping him with the necessary skills to be a more effective shepherd of the flock that God has committed into his care, and to play his part in fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).

Shiu Nadan –

“I am living in Fiji, which is located in the South Pacific. We are a small nation of around 800,000  people with around 50-55% Christians but spread over many denominations. The  Country had a solid Christian foundation previously, but there has been a lot of degradation since. This is due to the unstable political climate which at times regulated the churches’ activities and by the new generation drifting away from the church.

“I was born in a Hindu family and followed the Hindu religion for a long time in my life. But I saw it did not make any difference to my life, as I was always in some kind of trouble and sin always. But now that I know the Lord, my life is slowly changing. I don’t feel the anger, greed, jealousy, and other desires of the flesh any more and even when I do, it does not last for long and by God’s grace, I am able to keep from acting on them. Also in my troubles, I no longer worry, or I should say I no longer feel burdened by my troubles.

“My ministry dream is working exclusively with the young people, especially of my generation, as I believe I could relate to them better than the old pastors who make up the bulk of our elders.”Shiu Nadan

Shiu Nadan Receives a Scholarship

“The church I am a member was planted recently and we are lacking basic resources, therefore the church at the moment is not in any financial position for sponsoring any students.

“Please, if you are reading this letter/ statement, do pray for our church (Ra Revival centre) that we may prosper and increase by God’s grace.”

Shiu Nadan was a Hindu till he gave his life over to the Lord Jesus Christ. After his conversion, Shiu Nadan found a local church to attend, but he sees a problem. There are a lot of young men and women in the church, but none of them wants to take steps to be a leader in their generation. Now Shiu Nadan is pursuing a scholarship at Christian Leaders Institute because he wants to take that leadership role in the church.
