My name is Nicole Roane, and I currently reside in Texas in the United States of America. I have lived here the majority of my life. From the time I was an infant, I was raised in the Catholic church. My household contained both parents and two brothers, and we were living the American dream (at least, it appeared that way). Then my life took an unexpected turn for the worse when my parents divorced my Senior year in high school. That was the starting point to my abandonment of faith. My mother left, and I was left with my resentful father and brothers who relentlessly took out their anger on me. Thus, I relinquished my relationship with Christ and instead chose to search for fulfillment in sex, drugs, alcohol, and abusive relationships. My life rapidly spiraled downward until I finally hit rock bottom at the age of 22 when I found myself unwed, pregnant, jobless, and homeless. My family had rejected me, I had no friends, and I was by all definitions of the word, alone. For the next nine months, I suffered through what was hands down the hardest time of my life. The only good thing I thought I had to look forward to was the birth of my now 14-year-old daughter. Once God graced me with her birth, I began to hear Jesus calling me back to Him. It took several months, but I finally heeded the call and found a church. God rescued me from that point — I was no longer homeless or alone. A few weeks later, I was baptized and began a new life with Christ. Since that point, God has blessed me with a husband (which I never thought I would have) and two more daughters who are now 11 and 9. Marriage and raising a family has not been easy, but through the love and mercy of Christ Jesus, we have thrived, and our family has been blessed beyond all measure.
Last year, I went on a Walk to Emmaus where a fire was ignited within me to get to know God like I never had before and to step out and serve Him as a leader to others using the gifts He has blessed me with. In my fourth day, I began working at our church as Worship Leader. It was there that I began to feel the Holy Spirit pulling me towards furthering my education in the non-traditional sense. He was very clearly calling me to a Bible school. After much prayer and deliberation, I stopped procrastinating, and I began searching for schools.
Both my church family and my home family were excited to hear about my calling, and they have all been extremely supportive of my endeavor expressing their excitement to see what the Lord will do and how He will use me. I don’t have a specific ministry calling at this point. I just know this is where I’m supposed to be. I’m blindly following by faith. What I do know is God is good, and He will provide a way. That’s exactly what He has done for me with CLI. I was fully expecting to have to incur thousands of dollars of debt to obtain this education He was calling me to. Then, He led me to CLI where to my amazement, the price for education was calling not money. The foundation for which this institute stands is a breath of fresh air. Someone finally got it right!! Jesus didn’t charge His disciples to learn from Him, so why should anyone else? Thank you, CLI, for this free ministry training opportunity to further my spiritual education for the glory of God!!!

It’s a pleasure to be welcomed on this journey, proceeding forward with fellow disciples on the path of knowledge to better know the Lord. Like you, I am many great things to others. A daughter, student, librarian, sister, friend, and more. However, what I crave more than anything else is for my role as a Christian to shine through all that I am. When I was nine years old, I felt a tug on my heart, a pain that ached for the Lord’s salvation to overtake my life. While I said yes then and there, I’m convinced I didn’t know what the rough road held for me, this life as a “Christian.” And sure enough, the hard times came. Straying, I fumbled through life, grappling onto sin instead of what should have always been my Stronghold, Christ. It took me several years in my walk of Sanctification to make my way back from the murky depths (I use the selfish pronouns, “My” and, “Me” as though I had anything to do with my saving grace).
The ministry training graciously provided by the Christian Leaders Institute shall be used to develop a further relationship with my Lord, so that I may speak with confidence to others about Him whether it be my family, my coworkers, children of my own, or strangers that the Lord brings into my life. I have nary a doubt that the Lord will be able to use me anywhere He chooses, and that these classes shall expand and equip my mind.
Granting me a scholarship would give me invaluable information that won’t just be learned, but lived. This Institute ensures that everyday disciples are spiritually well-fed and exercised, prepping them for ministry in everyday life. I hope to be an ambassador of Christ, and this program would better establish my planted life in Christ, growing it, nurturing it, and pruning where needed. I am honored to be here and blessed already in my few baby steps as a learning Christian Leader.

My name is John Brooks. I currently live in the United States in Sitka Alaska. Sitka is located on Baranof Island in the Southeast “pan-handle” of Alaska. It is accessible by the Alaska Marine Highway (ferry) or the airlines. Until this past summer, we were only serviced by Alaska Airlines. But now in the summer months only, we have Delta airlines as well.
I was baptized when I was young in Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Florida where I grew up. A few years later I left the church. And for a very long time did not attend any church services. In October 2014 soon after meeting a new friend I was invited to attend church. I accepted this invitation. Soon I discovered what I had been missing and needed in my life. My friend and I decided to visit the United Pentecostal Church here in Sitka. I fell in love with the services of this church and could feel the Holy Spirits presence here. I developed a hunger for the word of God. Soon I was baptized again in the name of Jesus Christ.
My Pastor has been extremely supportive of me in my studies. And teaches me in bible study once a week. I attended a men’s study group with him and one other church member in April 2015, which was a very moving experience.
My dream is to be a teacher of the word of God to those who want it and desire it. It does not matter to me where I teach this word as long as that is what I can do. Thanks to Christian Leaders Institute I will be able to study and receive a degree in ministries that will open the door to be able to teach the word of God.
I ask that you pray for me for the strength, knowledge and courage to peruse my dream in the ministry. And to be able to become a teacher of the word of God.
