Hello, my name is April Lookabill. I live in the United States of America. God has blessed this country to allow us the freedom to worship and share God with others openly. God protected me all my life from the sins of the world. My parents taught us about the Lord, but we did not go to church when I was little. When I enter high school, we started attending church and the LORD saved me on March 29, 1998, when I was 18 years old.
I have a dream of teaching children and women in my area about Christ. I want to write bible studies and children books to share my Lord with others. By taking the starter class with CLI, I have only grown stronger. Through the course, God has opened my eyes to many things that I never saw before. Things that I have questioned about myself have been answered by our Lord. I see myself as more of a youth leader in the church. I have always loved teaching and I do have a teaching degree. I homeschool my children and I also am teaching Hebrew to a youth class at church this year. These experiences bring me great joy. There are a lot of poor children and poor families in our area that need extra teachings and help with food and daily needs. The bible is with me everywhere I go. This is a transformation in my life. I have found that not only is god with me spiritually, but physically. My pastor has welcomed me under his wing along with the ladies study group at my church. It gives me great hope and joy to know they support me. My husband and children are behind me 100 % and that is making me want my spiritual dreams to come true more. CLI and the bible school leader education they offer is helping my follow my dreams.
This scholarship means so much to me and my family. I am a stay at home mom and I homeschool my children. My family and I rely on my husband’s income. Without CLI offering this to me, I would not be able to fulfill my dream. My family, my church, and I can always use your prayers and support . The families in our area can always use prayer also.

My name is Erin and I live in a suburb of Cleveland Park, Brook Park, Ohio in the United States. Currently, I would say there is a very eclectic group of followers in my town, but at least they’re following the Lord!
I became saved when I was about 9 years old and baptized when I was 11. In high school, I ended up straying away from the church and the Lord. I got into drugs and if it wasn’t for the Lord and me calling on Him, I wouldn’t have gotten clean. I finally feel like that amazing Christian that has been blessed with the new heart from God. I can’t even explain what a great feeling it is!
When coming back to church one of my Pastor’s had me take a spiritual gifts test. I had never even heard of this before, but it sounded so exciting! He wasn’t surprised at all when he saw my results. My number one spiritual gift is administration, not far behind is exhortation, teaching, and showing mercy. Those were all a tie actually. But it made sense because my ministry dream is to one day be the Women’s Ministry Director at my church or one of the Women’s Ministry Leaders.
This class has strengthened my walk with God because it has shown me how I should be devoting myself to Him every day and that church once a week is not enough. To think that church once a week is enough is kind of silly now that I’ve taken this class.
As much as I want this next answer to be an evangelist, I would identify with the word, small group leader most right now because I know that I am a natural born leader and I am capable of leading a small group.
I can’t really explain a key experience in my life that prompted me to pursue ministry. I feel like the Lord wants me to be pursuing ministry so that is what I’m going to do. It makes me feel safe and comfortable so I’m going to keep myself in this type of environment.
Connecting to the Bible only stirs up more passion inside me to want to get into Women’s Ministry. It makes me feel like it’s where I’m supposed to be and fills my soul with joy.
My local church and my family are very supportive of my ministry calling and going to CLI. My fiancé is very excited about it and I wouldn’t expect anything less from him.
A scholarship at CLI is so important to me for my ministry dream because I don’t have a lot of money and I’ve wanted to go to school so badly but couldn’t afford it and didn’t want the debt. This amazing opportunity keeps me from going into debt because I’ll have the scholarship and I’ll be able to finally go into Women’s Ministry like I’ve wanted to. It feels like it is so meant to be that you have a Women’s Ministry track and this opportunity available. It is such a blessing.
You can please pray that I don’t get overwhelmed with everything going on in my life and that I stay healthy.

Young Adult Ministry Training

My name is Chad Macy and I live in the United States of America. Thankfully, I live in a country that offers religious freedom and in a state that is one of the most conservative in the nation. I often marvel at those who minister in countries that don’t have religious freedom. The commitment and sacrifice of those ministers are inspiring!
Growing up, I moved almost every two years. My home life was a mess and my parents did not have a relationship with Christ. The only times I would attend churches were major holidays or some camp that gave away free food and games. However, during my senior year of high school, I was asked to sing in a Christian a capella quartet. Although I wasn’t a Christian, I loved the music. One night, while traveling to churches and singing our songs, I actually listened to the words for the first time. It was then that God revealed to me that I was lost and was in need of a Savior. I committed my life to Christ that evening and have been in ministry for the last 27 years.
My wife and I recently started a young adult ministry at our church named Coffee House. Our “ministry dream” is also our mission statement: To reach people for Christ and help believers grow to be more like Him. Throughout the last year of leading this ministry, we have witnessed many lives impacted. We were shocked to see how much hurt and confusion exist in the 18-28-year-old age groups.
I am thankful that my wife and daughter are serving beside me in ministry. My wife leads a women’s Bible study while my daughter leads worship. Their love and support have been a Godsend! They have also made financial sacrifices while we are funding the ministry ourselves. This financial dynamic is why I was so excited to receive the CLI scholarship. I would not be able to fund the ministry AND pay for classes too.
This CLI class has helped to reinforce the calling God placed on my life and the need for family devotionals. I am much better about my personal devotional time than I am in leading my family. When my children were young, family devotions were a daily routine. As they have grown to young adults, I haven’t been fighting for their time like I used to. That ends tonight!
I am already considered the “Pastor” of the ministry, but I had a desire to receive formal training and certification. My weekly sermons revolve around specific scripture or themes supplemented by scripture. In everything we do, God’s Word is in the center of it all.
Although our church and community have been very supportive of our ministry, we are not without challenges. We were warned that this age group was unreliable and uncommitted as a generation. With few exceptions, this has proven to be true. Our membership list is four times the size of our actual attendance.
I would appreciate prayer for our ministry. We are hopeful that the word will spread and lives will be impacted for the Kingdom!
