Ordained Minister Training

Ordained Minister Training

My name is Corey Robert and I am receiving ordained minister training at Christian Leaders Institute. I live in the United States of America. I grew up in a Christian household and independently dedicated my life to Christ as a teenager. It was at the age of 13, I felt called into being a worship leader.

My wife and I have always had a passion for worship. Both of us grew up leading worship through music in our church as well as churches we were a part of throughout the years. When we received our first staff position as worship directors at a church, it was there I began to fall in love with learning on a deeper level a strong theological view of who God is and what He has called His Church to be. Thus began my journey at the Christian Leaders Institute for ordained minister training. We had a strong belief that no one should have to go into debt to receive a strong seminary education. My passion to pastor and care for my worship team has grown to the point that I know for them to grow, I must also grow.

Doing ministry in the USA has its very own unique challenges. One of the biggest I would say is a culture of acceptance of everything and an attitude of “it is what it is.” The USA is a country that in many ways, has everything. We are so fortunate compared to other countries yet ironically, we may be one of the most dissatisfied countries. All that said, as Christians, as ministers, and as people, being a Christian in the United States requires a different kind of courage. It is the kind of courage that requires you to be incredibly secure in your identity in Christ as well as the ability to simply speak up. Oftentimes, our culture accepts every belief system except for the only one that really is life changing.

What I loved about this getting started class at CLI was that it is foundational in understanding God and the Bible from a 10,000-foot view. It gave me building blocks to take with me into future courses. Because of this class, I feel like I am able to reevaluate my life and the way I view God. I feel like I have more confidence in sharing these fundamental principles with others also.

The reason I want a scholarship is simple. I crave learning but I also believe in wisdom. Wisdom to not put my family in debt, but the passion to want to know how to better preach the Gospel, study the Word, and connect with Christ. Anytime I learn I put it into practice with what I say on stage at my church. I also have a best friend who would like me to marry him and his fiance so I will absolutely be taking the ordination courses.

I am excited to share the Christian Leaders Institute with others as I continue to benefit from its amazing resources. Thank you for providing this opportunity!

Bible Education Opportunity

Bible Education Opportunity

My name is Jennie Ball and I am following a Bible education opportunity at CLI. I live in the USA. My story is nothing radical or earth-shaking, it is just simply from my heart. I was born an identical twin and we were raised by our grandmother until she passed away when we were 14 years old. We always had a knowledge of God because our grandmother sent us to church often. After her passing, we lived with our birth dad. Although our family was not Christian, my sister and I continued on with church. We were baptized at the age of 14 just before our grandmother passed away at Easter time. Life wasn’t all that difficult but it could have been a whole lot better, but we got through it and eventually, my sister went to the military and married and lives happily ever after.

I, on the other hand, got married but not to such a great guy. He was abusive emotionally and physically at times. But, we had two awesome kids and while they were still young we moved out of my husband’s house. He remained in our lives for what I thought was best for my children, whether it was or not is still debatable. He was older and eventually passed away. I was almost 48 at the time, and after such a horrible marriage of almost 28 years, I had no intention of remarrying. Then when my sister moved back near me, we started to go back to church and were saved and baptized. We now live as Christians. I am taking these classes at Christian Leaders Institute to be a better person and to help my walk with God. I pray often for these classes and although I have no known actual plans, I know God does.

Since my first husband had passed and I had no plans to remarry, God had other plans and I remarried to an awesome husband. We do prison ministry together and we are also taking these classes at CLI together although he is much further ahead and much more knowledgeable than I am. We do have a dream of starting our own church someday, so we shall see if that is God’s plan as well. I am very shy when it comes to speaking in front of others so that in itself will be a challenge for God. I do hope by going through these classes I will be a better witness to my children and others as well.

Ministry Testimony

Ministry Testimony

Hey! I’m Justin and this is my ministry testimony. A quick overview of my walk with God. When I was younger, I didn’t come from the wealthiest family. So my grandmother would “kidnap” me on the weekends, pretty much my whole childhood. She would take me to church for worship service on Friday night and then back every Sunday for mass. In my teen years, she moved to Florida and I fell away from my faith to fit into the high school crowd. After high school, I joined the military and went straight to Iraq.

When I came home from Iraq, I developed a substance-abuse problem. This brought arrests, depression and suicidal thoughts, isolating, etc. Then one day, my childhood best friend that I had lost touch with got in contact with me and suggested I go to his parent’s church. So I went and finally surrendered my life at the altar and was baptized. The change was not overnight, but slowly things began to get better. Don’t get me wrong, there are still ups and downs, but I know God is with me.

I then started getting into apologetics and helping other people overcome similar issues I went through with God. Planting seeds for my Lord in others lives! As I was growing closer to God, everything started getting worse. After every new tough and dramatic situation I’d go through, I would cling to God. Once the storm settles, a Christian encourager comes in and has the most sound advice to give clarity to my situation. Lately, the advice has been the ministry. The last hard and emotional situation I went through, after clinging to God for dear life, an elder from an old church I used to go to got in touch with me randomly. I never told him my situation to get my mind off of it, we just talked about everything else. Finally, he suggested Christian Leaders Institute! So here I am, ready to learn and grow in the Lord!
