My name is Thendo. I am both South African and American, but, I grew up in the USA. Currently, I am getting a Christian education in ministry at the Christian Leaders Institute (Learn more about Bible courses and ministry training online, Click Here).
I went through school and university in the USA to obtain a BSc. For reasons I didn’t understand at the time, I moved to South Africa in 2015. My thoughts were quite selfish. I moved for additional help with my kids, to save money, and to grow my business. I didn’t know that God was bringing me back to South Africa because He wanted me back in His Kingdom.
Upon moving to South Africa, I endured tragedy and heartache. My life, business, and family turned upside down. During that time, a family member asked, “Why aren’t you in church? Why aren’t you taking your kids to seek God?” This person’s encouragement sent me back to church. I visited churches seeking a new church home.
My Spiritual Journey
I grew up in a Christian home and saw my mom wholeheartedly devote herself to Jesus Christ. However, she passed when I was a teenager. Some years after, I stopped attending church. I thought that perhaps I could nurture my relationship with God outside of the church’s structure due to bad experiences with leadership and others.
As I sought a church, God sought me. I had spiritual encounters that I couldn’t understand or even describe at the time. I began to understand and experience the presence of God. Also, I learned to have a personal relationship with Jesus. Throughout this time, I experienced these wonderful encounters.
However, I was too focused on what I desired God to accomplish in my life and career. It was only after I learned God’s true nature that I realized I needed to solidify my relationship with Jesus Christ regardless of my circumstances, provision, and resources. I needed to seek Him for the sake of worshipping, loving, and exalting Him. It is for the sake of the relationship and not for outcomes that I now serve God. I have been abundantly blessed because His Grace has been abundant for me.
Ministry Dream and Christian Education in Ministry at CLI
My dream for my life is to be an example of God’s goodness for my children, three beautiful and spiritually gifted girls. Also, I want to shine Jesus to those around me – family, friends, church, etc. I am still praying over how God will use me. However, I’ve had dreams and visions of speaking to thousands about the Lord and His Word. I am to share the goodness of God with them and serve as an encourager to win more souls to the kingdom. This dream has been a seed in my heart for many years. When the time is right I know that God will use me.
I pray that God blesses you and that you encounter the goodness of our Lord in your life in the name of Jesus Christ. I am abundantly grateful for the opportunity to experience this Christian education in ministry without having to undergo financial strain. My financial situation would not allow me access to such an educational facility otherwise. Thank you, CLI!

Finally Finding Free Ministry Training at CLI
Hello! My name is James Porkpah. My story is about finding the way to God and finding free ministry training at the Christian Leaders Institute (Learn more about Bible courses and ministry training online, Click Here). I live in Monrovia, Liberia.
I was born in “Naama, Bong County,” located in the northern part of Liberia. I’m the oldest of one brother and three sisters. My father was an employee at Firestone Plantation, and my mother was a stay home mom. My father died when I was fourteen years of age.
Youth Struggles
I finished high school in 1982 and things got difficult in life. I mingled with friends, and we drank alcohol, smoked, and went to many entertainment centers. Sadly, I messed up with the wrong friends and corrupt people in general. My life spiraled out of control entirely. It happened not once, not twice, but many times in the past 30 years.
Encounters with Jesus
In 1984, a friend of mine disappointed me when he denied me my share of the proceeds from a mineral digging project we ventured into. Frustrated and on my way back to Monrovia, I heard a voice, “James, James, keep on going.” This voice was very strange to me.
Then, in 1990, another friend of mine and I were seeking a job and went to a man of God for prayer. The man of God told my friend that he would be employed. However, he told me that I was chosen by the Lord to work for Him. Then, I thought of the voice that spoke to me in 1984. What the man of God told us happened. My friend received the job, and I left to work for the Lord.
I needed Jesus, my Lord, in my life! When the man of God said to me, “You have been chosen by the Lord.” I accepted the call and the Lord became real to me. When I started working for the Lord, things became positive for me and my family.
My Spiritual Dream
My spiritual dream is to help others to know Christ. I also dream of bringing God’s message of peace to families, churches, communities, countries, and continents. Being a good steward, I hope to use my Christian Leaders Institute training in my ministry dream. It will help me be an equipped Christian Leader for bringing God’s gospel of peace to all nations.
After finding free ministry training at CLI, I enrolled as I could not afford to pay for a college education. One day, I searched the internet and found the Christian Leaders Institute. So, here I am, I am so thankful for the opportunity to study at CLI and become an equipped Christian Leader. It is a lifelong dream come true. I want to thank God Almighty for giving me the chance of a lifetime fulfilling the dream He has given me.

My name is Emily Skipper Busby. I’m from a very small southern town in the USA. I grew up here and now I plan to raise my daughter here. Recently, I found the Christian Leaders Institute online for further biblical Christian education (Learn more about Bible courses and ministry classes online, Click Here). I also want to strengthen my walk with Christ.
A Little About Me
When asked to share my story, I’m not going to lie, I trembled at the thought of writing this story about myself. Am I going to be interesting enough? Will people care what I have to say? Am I worthy enough? All of these questions floated through my head and began to overwhelm me. So, I decided to take a break and go outside for some fresh air and a little chat with God. He reminded me of my worth. When I heard the birds chirping as I walked down the road, God even had the sunshine right on me almost like a spotlight. The world is His stage and He knows my name.
So, I don’t have a big elaborate story of how I came to know Jesus as my friend and savior. I’ve known Jesus for a long time actually. I remember learning about Him as a child and wanting to do the right things to be close to Him. What really made me want to draw even closer to Him recently was having my daughter. The moment I saw her, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. God chose me, of all people, to be her mother.
Further Biblical Christian Education at CLI
Now, I take my walk with Christ a lot more seriously since she came. I only have 18 years with her at home to influence her and guide her. I can read all the parenting books and listen to all the podcasts in the world. However, nothing will ever come close to the word of God.
So, I joined the Christian Leaders Institute because of the calling in my life to know more, do more, and be more for Him. At first, I worried that I was going to have to pay money that I didn’t have in order to further my biblical Christian education and my walk with Christ. Imagine my excitement at finding this program at CLI! It’s so important and special that CLI allows people to grow in the Word of Christ and extend their knowledge of the Bible tuition free.
To be able to spread knowledge of the Word of God in my community and have some big elaborate plan is not what I have right now. Honestly, my main goal in this program is to be able to teach my children about God’s love, grace, and patience in hopes that they pass it down to their children!
