My Spiritual Journey
I am from the city of Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. I have a twin sister, a younger sister, and two elder brothers who all live in Cape Town South Africa. We grew up in a very modest home. My father worked while my mother was a home executive. Both my parents abused alcohol so there was always arguing and fighting in the home. My mother would also stay away from home for periods. Then, it was up to the older siblings to manage the house in her absence.
I completed matric in 1978. I grew up in a very staunch Catholic home. My dream was to become a Catholic priest. So, immediately after finishing school, I went to study at a Catholic Seminary. Although I studied to become a priest, I never had a personal relationship with Jesus. I realized that something was missing. There had to be more to life.
In February 2014, I lost my job. Soon after, I was living on the streets of Port Elizabeth. For seven months, I lived in my car. In September 2014, I met three of my best friends, who led me to Christ. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and was baptized shortly afterward. It was the best decision I ever made. In Jesus, I discovered a real sense of purpose in my life. I have a passion for serving and teaching.
My Ministry Service
In 2019, I founded The WISE Group (NPC), a mercy ministry. We serve God through serving the poor, the homeless, the sick at home and in hospital, and those in prison. The acronym WISE stands for worship, intercede, serve, and encourage. We worship Jesus Christ, first and foremost, as our Lord and Savior. We encourage all to enter into a personal relationship with Him and to be baptized. Also, we intercede for all and encourage all to intercede. Furthermore, we serve those we are commanded to in accordance with Matthew 25: 31-44.
Teen pregnancy is a huge problem in South Africa, especially in very small towns and rural areas. Currently, we have 24 students in one High School who are pregnant. A 13-year-old girl gave birth to a baby in October 2021. We encourage these students to finish school. If one has a baby before completing school, we encourage her to go back to school as soon as possible after the birth. Dropping out of school adds to the already staggering unemployment in South Africa.
We also encourage those entering high school to consider looking at other job alternatives after completing school. Not all students can become doctors and lawyers. Therefore, we give them some career guidance. We encourage them to start very early in their high school years to consider becoming plumbers, builders, electricians, etc. Then, we try to get them into technical schools and institutions so that by the time they finish matric school they can start small businesses or do apprenticeships.
More Ministry and Mentor Ministry Training at CLI
Further, I realized that many churches and family members do not support or visit those in prison. We visit and encourage those in prison to do Bible studies. We are particularly connecting with those who serve long prison sentences.
Currently, I am the House Father at a ministry for men who come from prison, drug rehabilitation centers, living on the streets, and other institutions like mental facilities. Some of these men are not welcome in their own homes and families. We are running a program in which we restore dignity, help them find meaningful employment, become independent, and ultimately return to family or integrate back into society.
Wanting more training for my ministry, I enrolled at the Christian Leaders Institute for free online Bible courses and ministry training. I am using the material from CLI to do devotions and Bible studies at the shelter. I am also hoping to use the CLI training in my mentor ministry to young men and women. Also, I still seek to reduce teenage pregnancy and alcohol and drug abuse in our society. God bless!

Redeemed to Be a Witness for Christ
My name is Micurly Barbara Schnaida Joseph, from Haiti. I am gaining Bible and theological knowledge free online at the Christian Leaders Institute (Learn more about Bible courses and ministry training online, Click Here).
My Early Years
I am the oldest of a family of four children. My family was Catholic. I attended a congregational school during my childhood, from primary to secondary. In the beginning, my parents considered it optional to go to church on Sunday mornings. My father only stepped across the church threshold for solemn ceremonies like weddings, funerals, and baptisms. As I grew up, I heard vaguely about God. I was not aware of the works He performed in people’s lives and indifferent to His presence. During holidays, my family and I participated in secular events like the carnival that celebrated Haitian culture through folklore and voodoo.
Regarding my academic background, I studied law for four years. I planned to work with my father in his law firm. After school, my father never stopped encouraging me to make a carrier in this field. His dream was to leave me for succession after he retired. After graduation, I suddenly lost my conviction to take the lion’s share in the legal field.
Crisis and God’s Grace
Then, I abandoned my training for the courts because of the earthquake that struck my country in 2010. That was the deadliest event I had ever seen in my life. It caused around 300,000 dead, countless injured, amputated, and thousands of people with psychological disorders. Thank God, He rescued me miraculously. I was on the second floor of a building where I took my last courses before the final exam. When the earthquake occurred, the Holy Spirit mandated a Christian woman to save me. All the buildings had already collapsed, even the presidential palace. God delivered me from death. Since that time, I realized the depth of God’s love towards me.
Some days after, my parents decided to move to the North of Haiti to flee from famine and insecurity. The urgency of that moment pushed us to quickly find refuge. We were sleeping every night in the open air without a tent over our heads. My family and I ended up in a camp called Camp of Grace in my native suburbs. There, we found victims from the capital reunited to receive humanitarian aid. I spent four months there working as a benevolent translator with the American missionaries. They came specially to bring their support to the affected population.
Ministry Service
One day, one of the American pastors came by my side and talked to me about discipleship. After this conversation, I reflected on my mission on earth. As I served my brothers and sisters in the camp, I realized through morning devotions and night services that “the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Mathew 9:38). So I confirmed my position in God’s realm.
After those four months, I returned to the capital to reconstruct my life. One day, my mother and sisters discovered a church not far from our house. They invited me to assist in a wake-up service. I was somehow drawn to that ministry. After three years of faithfulness in all activities, the church executive committee summoned me to participate in the youth presidential election. I was afraid and dubious as I felt I didn’t have enough experience to lead the youth association.
After counting the votes, I won the election with a 3-year term as head of the youth. That is when I started to walk with God seriously. I faced many challenges so I stayed constantly in God’s presence to succeed. Happily, it was a victory for me to realize so many great works with the youth while being a mentor and an advisor for them. After my term, the pastor chose me as a member of the Church Coordinating Committee. Its work consisted in dealing with the external group or choirs’ invitations, concerts, 40 days of annual revival meetings, and any other solemn events.
Bible and Theological Knowledge at CLI
Now, I have almost 12 years since I dedicated myself faithfully to God’s work. As days passed, I felt God’s calling in my heart. The Holy Spirit’s presence was so powerful every time I preached for the youth services. That was where the idea to study the Bible was born. I wanted to have good Bible and theological knowledge and proper training for more impact while serving my community, my country, and even other nations. As Christians, we receive an unlimited mandate from Jesus Christ in Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
There are several theological schools in Haiti. However, I couldn’t afford any of them. My purse was empty. My financial condition prevented me from reaching my goal. One day, by surprise, one of my sisters sent a link through my email to save it for herself. It concerned the Christians Leaders Institute. Curious, I opened it and checked the website thoroughly. Suddenly, I knew it was God’s gift to me. My dream can come true.
The scholarship at CLI will cover all my expenses. Without it, my dream will suffer. My country is in a severe political and economic crisis. It prevents people from jobs and increases gang wars. It also increases the immigration of large numbers of Haitians to other places to avoid death. I am thankful to God for giving me such an opportunity at CLI to further my studies in Bible and theological knowledge.

Jesus Lights My World!
My name is Gifton Caesar from the sunny tropical twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago. I am at the Christian Leaders Institute for ministry and Bible training (Learn more about Bible courses and ministry training online, Click Here).
A Christian Foundation
I grew up in a strict Christian home as the firstborn son of a preacher. I learned the teaching of Christianity and had a safe and sheltered environment to grow in the faith. At age 11, I committed my life to Jesus and received baptism. Not too long afterward, I experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit. After, my life took on greater meaning and purpose.
In my formative years, my role models were Joseph the Prime Minister of Egypt, King David, Queen Esther, and Daniel and the three Hebrew boys. From a young age, I learned that God made all things. He placed humans on earth to take charge of its systems whilst being governed by the Word and the Spirit. At university, I pursued an undergraduate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Since graduating, I have been a practicing telecommunications engineer. Soon after graduating, I married my lovely Wynnell and began a family.
Ministry Service
God gave me many opportunities to serve in ministry. From my early years in high school, I was in leadership in a Christian-based club. Throughout my life, I served in music, Sunday school and men’s ministries, and the church council. My heart has been for people’s progress and development.
Because Jesus is the way, the truth, the life, and the light of the world, I have been able to navigate through life purposefully with Him. My life is by no means perfect with all the ducks in a row, however, my life is meaningful and enjoyable knowing that He who made all things is in control and will accomplish that which he has set out to do even though there will be setbacks, challenges, and heartaches along the way.
Ministry and Bible Training at CLI
For the most part, I have enjoyed my life. Further, I want to share Jesus and the Way with others in a manner that is relatable, doable, and enjoyable. At this stage in my life with children about to enter university and a very demanding career, Christian Leaders Institute is a great fit. CLI provides a reliable, solid, and structured path to ministry development and accountability that is extremely affordable. Many teachings have been so enlightening so far that I believe that CLI should be the default for all Christian ministry training to lay a solid foundation for effective Christian living and ministering. Jesus lights my world so that I can continue letting my light shine.
