My name is John. I broke the sound through barrier this year and turned 50. I am married to a fantastic woman, Erica, for four years now on November 14. I have two wonderful sons from my first marriage. I am currently pastoring a local church in the town I live.
I came to faith in Jesus Christ in March 2001, when I had TOTALLY given up on life. Life had presented itself to be meaningless and hopeless in all my pursuit of love, social climbing, happiness, contentment and financial gain. I had worked in the automobile industry as a toolmaker for 23 years where I had many problems, including a serious hand injury caused by an accident with a hydraulic press and the insertion of a pacemaker due to stress at the age of 27. My marriage had also come to a cross road; it too was falling apart. Empty inside and with no purpose to living I was having constant thoughts of ending my life. Having recognized I needed professional help, I admitted myself to a psychiatric hospital. There I was diagnosed with depression and a mood disorder.
It had been 3 months since my release from the psychiatric hospital and I was now facing the family courts for separation and divorce! All my past issues, present pain, rejection, hurt, confusion coupled with my psychiatric illnesses and awareness of my own wrong doings ‘SIN’ eventually caught up with me. This weight of guilt and shame managed to manifest itself in me by desiring to remove the pain by hanging myself. The thought almost became a romance in the planning of how I would do it!
On that evening I went to say a ‘silent’ good bye to my parents…but I was unable to hold back the pain and tears inside. (God was on my case) Having recognized my deep distress they called a local Pastor who came and explained how much God loved me. He explained, God gave Jesus, His Son, as a ransom to die for me, for the guilt, inner pain and shame I was experiencing. The Pastor led me in a prayer of repentance for my sin and to ask Jesus to come into my heart. I was so overwhelmed by this conviction; I wept deeply asking God to forgive me.
There and then I surrendered TOTALLY to the Lordship of Jesus and asked him to fill me and change me. Within seconds I could sense the darkness leaving. Suicidal thoughts were displaced with an inner happiness, a joy! The weight lifted off my shoulders and my mind became incredibly peaceful. This reassurance of His love and grace would assist me in the painful years ahead of court hearings, divorce and the daily disconnection with my children.
Losing everything…marriage, family, health, home, job, savings and allowing Him to turn everything around for my good was a very slow and painful journey. But I was more determined than ever to get to know God personally. He gave me a new (and healthy) heart as the pacemaker was removed too! So with a hunger for His word I have done all I can to pursue the call of God on my life. It took me some years to recognize that God had indeed called me into ministry. He used His word, the Holy Spirit and put many people across my path to encourage me in the pursuit of ministry and continues to do so.
I have been pastoring for the last seven years and at the moment I am pastoring a local Church fellowship here in Carlow, Ireland. We are a church plant out of Portlaoise, Co Laois since 2012. My wife Erica is a teacher by profession who is also studying with CLI’s Ireland bible training. She is a fantastic supporter to me in so many ways and looks after the children’s ministry in our church.
As many of you can imagine being involved in a church plant involves many challenges. We all want to see things happen quickly, but digging trenches and foundations is not easy.
However, I can trust God for everything and that encourages me to pursue what He has put in my heart, which include: to be a more effective leader, to have a closer walk with the Lord; to rightly divide his word; to see leaders raised up to take their rightful place; to see the people in my home town, county and country transformed and set free by the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
For all this to happen I know I need more training and equipping. I have had some basic theological training in the past, but had to travel on low budgets, which placed a burden at the time. CLI’s Ireland bible training offers me the opportunity to study modules at home online for free, which I would normally have to travel for and not for free. Having a greater understanding of doctrines and theology will assist me in dividing the word rightly. I can see that CLI is a serious organization with very high quality training and I have no problems with recommending it. It will enable me to introduce others who are called that are unable either to travel, afford training or a seminary qualification. In turn, CLI will assist me to raise up effective trained leaders at a greater pace to see a move of God in and beyond my country. Thank you for this opportunity to have studies for Ireland bible training.
I would appreciate your prayers regarding my marriage, family, studies and ministry. May all these areas be in balance and may God raise more people to assist us in what He has started. Please, I ask you to also pray that the hearts of the people here would be open and softened to receive God’s message. Thank you.

Cameroon Bible Training
I am Eleanor Nkwenti from Cameroon. Born in 1983 to both Cameroonian parents, I have never left my country to go anywhere. I was rejected by my dad when I was still in my mother’s womb and so I grew up knowing no father. Several times I went to his house to try and see if he would accept me and send me to school, but it was all to no avail. I loved school so much that, even though my mum was raising us in abject poverty, I had the strength to go around and sell all kinds of things to get fees. From Primary fourth till Upper sixth, where I had my Advanced Level, I sponsored myself with little assistance from Christian brethren or relatives. In the midst of our suffering my mum, who was a Baptist Youth Choir Leader, took me and my siblings to church. I gave my life to Jesus at the age of eight and started teaching Sunday school at the age of nine. I still teach children today and am also a worship leader. I am now married to pastor Nkwenti and we have two lovely kids, Evanis and Kashman. We have our own ministry called Spiritworld Ministry.
In my country we have “a form of godliness but deny the power there of.” We all claim to be Christians but all we mostly want are miracles. Most of our people are not rooted in the word and they don’t even take the time to learn. So, doing ministry in my country is not an easy task. Most of our ministers are all about “power,” and “word of knowledge,” with no deep knowledge of the word of God or even the God they claim to know. There is a strong need for Bible teaching and Christian education.
My deepest desire is to see people focus their attention on studying the Word of God and come to know the Lord better. I also love children so much that I want to be able to raise up a Children’s Bible School and Center, because we have nothing for Christian children in our country. The reason I want to minister to children is because I see the need for somebody to bring up these kids in God’s ways. Secondly I want to study because I am married to a servant of God, and I want to assist him. On August 15th of 2000 and again on August 15th 2001, I had a revelation from God calling me into ministry though I was still a kid. I had been running from it but then finally submitted to His will. I ran so much so that when my present husband proposed to me and said he wanted to go to Bible school, I refused to marry him. But God knows just how to get us, and here I am.
My area lacks money to fund the Gospel. We are really backward and need help. We don’t have good Christian libraries and there is much poverty. Things are very expensive and there’s not enough money to do anything. Even without proper training, I have been given a lot of responsibilities. I am currently the head of the children’s church and the charity work. We have been buying school supplies for all the kids in our children’s church for the past four years, and with the number increasing to 146 this August, our desire is to have the resources to do more. I am also the Worship Leader of the church because that was the area that I was called into. My husband, who is my greatest inspiration, is totally behind me in all that I do.
I really need this Cameroon Bible Training CLI so that I can know the word of God better and have the confidence to be able to share freely with others. I want to be able to train children so that they can go out and evangelize their friends. I need this scholarship because presently, we don’t have enough resources to pay for local Cameroon Bible Training for me. And lastly, I want to encourage others by letting them know that there are people out there with CLI committed to helping them grow. This scholarship will really boost my faith in JEHOVAH JIREH.
I would like prayer that God would give my husband and I enough money to continue to take care of the children and also to extend our ministry building to the orphans outside. Our community appreciates people who talk God and show God through finances by helping the needy. Thank you for your patience.

Being Fulfilled in Gospel Ministry in the United States
Praise God! My name is Junious R. Buchanan Sr. I currently live in the United States, in the great state of Louisiana. I am a veteran of the US Army who served 10 honorable years of service. I currently serve as Senior Pastor at The Church Of Jesus Christ Apostolic Ministries, a very vibrant congregation in the Amite, La. I am blessed to have a beautiful family where my wife and I have seven bundles of joy. We live to become more and more like our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.
Ministry in our area is complicated in many facades. I believe that the challenges that we all face is directly related to the opposition that our enemy has attempted to destroy our blessed hope of salvation that was provided for us when Christ redeemed all of man kind. Specifically salvation has been diluted to the place that Christianity and salvation have been given a false identity. During these times I have witnessed a movement of people who label themselves as Christians yet do not practice the ways of a disciple. Many have misplaced trust in man, only to find that man is not the answer. Many have placed trust in material things, only to find those things won’t suffice. The common denominator seems to be the falsehood of the mirage that has been lobbied by the works of the enemy. Many consider they are going the right way but are not lead by the Word and the Holy Spirit.
Some of the more earthly challenges are also inevitable. One that seems to plague many of my friends and fellow labors is resources. Many have awesome dreams and plans yet are limited by resources. I have also seen that there is much discord amongst brothers and sisters in the body of Christ. There is much more we can accomplish with teamwork. One other challenge that I’d like to make mention of is commitment. The Bible teaches us, the laborers are simply few.
God called me into the Gospel Ministry at a very young age. If my memory serves me correctly I was around the age of 10. My mother and father took me to church ever since I can remember. I can truly say now that even in going to church I did not understand salvation fully. As I got older friends of my parents and people that I’d never met a day in my life would say,” God’s got a call on your life.” I would always write it off as if they were just making small talk. I then begin to notice at an early age that I excelled in learning the Word of God. The more I learned the more I’d find myself getting into trouble. I can see now it was an early attempt to cut off my purpose in God. I began as a teen to do my best to blend in to the normal crowd. I always wondered why I just never seemed to get as comfortable as I had perceived them to be. I guess I can say now I can see. Nevertheless that did not sway me from a life of disobedience to God and my parents.
At the age of 11 my father began ministry. I had many mixed emotions about this. I was excited on one hand and still curious on the other. My curious side won for the time being. After 16 years of running, hiding, and many near death experiences, I gave Jesus my whole heart. I came to Christ exhausted with very little to offer but me. I soon found out that me was all he wanted. All that I am, and all that I hope to be, I owe to the glory of God.
Our vision is to establish an effective gospel ministry to reconcile the lost. We focus on the truth of God’s Word, and the Love that he wants us to display.
With the gospel ministry training that I will receive I plan to continue the work that God has given me. My vision is to expand the gospel ministry that has been established to different parts of my community, state, and country and as far as God says.
I believe that education is vital in the work that God has laid before me. I have faced many obstacles while pursuing my post secondary education. I was deployed to Afghanistan after finishing my first year in college. After missing so much instruction I found it difficult to readjust. Now I have a family and without CLI being a free online college, I would have a difficult time to get the formal education that I need to continue in the knowledge of The Lord.
