Teaching Ministry Call
My name is Linda Sue Pugh, and I have a teaching ministry call on my life. I live in the United States of America. At the age of 4, I met Jesus Christ. Our pastor’s wife took me to the altar, and there we prayed together. I asked Jesus to come into my heart and He did. As I grew up, our family moved more than an hour away from my home town. I suffered from depression and anger at having to move away from all my friends. It got worse when I experienced bullying at the new school which went to the eighth grade. From there, I went to high school. High school was much better, but I did not always listen to Jesus and made some poor choices.
God has always been faithful. There were times throughout high school I was called upon to either speak in front of a group or to lead a prayer. I don’t know why I was chosen to do those things. But, I know I could not ever deny Christ and say I didn’t want to do that. Other opportunities like these have opened doors to minister to others.

Then, the Lord called me to be a Worship Leader in our local church. This position was something for which I felt unprepared. I eventually was asked to sing in a gospel music group. While there, we made two recordings. But these things were not fulfilling in and of themselves. I needed Jesus to be REAL and ALIVE in my life. Marital problems led me to call upon Christ earnestly, and He showed up.
I attended college and received my Master’s Degree in Special Education Administration. Since that time, I joyfully teach adult Sunday school class and speak to people routinely about Jesus. I was not pursuing this for my benefit, but because God ordained it. My decision to embrace this and run with it has been fulfilling! I also lead women’s Bible studies at least once a year in my home, and I just returned from my second mission trip to Honduras.
Now I am studying at Christian Leaders Institute to learn more about the Bible and to receive ministry training for my teaching ministry call. So, what does God have in mind for the rest of my life? I am not certain, but I know that it will be good and meaningful.

Nursing Home Ministry Calling
My name is Terry Comeford, and I have a nursing home ministry calling on my life. I was born in Norfolk, Nebraska in the United States of America. I am an Army Veteran. Shortly after I received baptism at a summer church camp at the age of thirteen, my journey with the Lord started in earnest. It was at this time that I felt that God was calling me to the ministry. I went through a time of searching for truth. That path led me to explore many different religious organizations, synagogues, and churches.
After I left the United States Army, I moved to San Antonio, Texas. I lived there for fifteen years, and I became a funeral director and embalmer. In 1999, I moved back to Nebraska to lend assistance to my aging mother. My mother went into a nursing home, and I started helping with the church services there. She went to heaven three years ago.
Seven years ago, I married the love of my life, Sally Mercado. When I married Sally, I started to make a fully committed effort to follow Jesus. The best decision of my life. Together we share our passion for Jesus in a nursing home ministry. I started doing Bible teaching, preaching, and leading the worship service as I mentioned earlier. We do a complete service with communion for the residents. I am also the leader of a men’s group at our local church.

Biblical Training Opportunity
My name is Joel Mukonyoro from Kenya. I am a Kenyan currently residing in South Sudan. I am thankful for this biblical training opportunity with CLI. At first, my pastor saw that I had something in me after giving me permission to preach in the church. Then, he realized I had the grace of God to serve and preach, so he told me to join the ministry. But, I refused simply because of what I had seen in many servants of God. Often, they live in poverty. Therefore, I had many of the reasons to say no.
But afterward, I realized that when God calls you, He will supply your needs as long as you remain faithful to Him. I stand today to say that God has done it. I have seen Him supply my needs. I am blessed with a wife and two children. By God’s grace, they are doing well. As I am serving the Lord, we have gone to places where we had never been before. We associated with many great men of God on this ministry journey.
Service to God and Biblical Training Opportunity at CLI
In simple terms, serving God brings honor and respect. When we respond to God’s calling to serve Him, we shall be honored by God. So, do you know what many people are looking for today? People are looking for honor and to have a good name others will admire. Another thing I learned after serving, we shall be where Jesus is. What a privilege it is! Despite the challenges in the ministry, He will still create an opportunity for us to go forward. So, let us continue in this work of the ministry without giving up.
This free biblical training opportunity at Christian Leaders Institute is a Godsend for me. Now I can learn more about the Bible, grow in my walk with God and in my leadership skills. Thank you, CLI!
