Ministry Bible Training
My name is Michael Dwayne Dowdy and I am receiving ministry Bible training at Christian Leaders Insitute. I was born in Bitburg, West Germany on August 11, 1958. My father is USA Air Force Tech Sgt John D. Dowdy, an Air Force Chef who served in the Air Force for over 27 years and served honorably and with distinguished military service during the WWII and Korean wars. My mother was a lifelong, high ranking civil servant working for the US federal government on various military installations.
I am the middle child of three and the youngest son with an older brother and younger sister. We lived near and attended public schools near military bases all over the USA. I was taught to love God, country, and family. I was taught the value of hard work, good family values, good morals, and ethics that I hold dear to my heart to this day.
At the age of 16, I accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior at the small South Baptist Church I attended as both a child and a teenager in Harker Heights, Texas. At the age of 18, I heard the calling from God to help people that are sick and dying, so I became a nurse at the age of 21. I worked various positions and fields in health care as a professional nurse for over 20 years. Then after that, as my health began to decline with a diagnosis of lupus, I asked God to help me pursue another occupation that I could handle with my disability. I also wanted to continue to honor God by helping others. So, I returned to college and became a certified teacher for 12 years. During this time in my life, I also felt a strong calling from God to enter into the ministry as an ordained minister so I became an ordained licensed minister in 1990.
I am thankful to be able to study at Christian Leaders Institute in my pursuit of further ministry Bible training.
