All Things Work Together for Good for Those Who Love God
Hello, my name is Calvin Thomas, and I am called to minister to families and children. Therefore, I am getting the proper minister training and licensing at the Christian Leaders Institute. I am from Maryland in the United States. My lovely wife, Shannon, and I have four beautiful children.
My Story
The third born of six children from my mom, I did not grow up in a Christian home as a small child. At a young age, many people told me that I was different. I was also told that I was too sensitive and quiet. As a young boy, I had no idea what people meant when they said these things to me.
Before accepting Christ, I had many dreams while asleep. I also sometimes saw things I could not understand in dreams and while awake. I used to dream about wars and events, both past and future. At 11, I was introduced to Christ but did not accept Him into my heart until 18.
My Marriage and Family
Shortly after accepting Christ, I met my beautiful wife and married her four years later. In our second year of marriage, our first child was born. In the tenth year of our marriage, things started to shift drastically. After ten years of living in our home, a fire broke out. Therefore, we had to move immediately. We stayed with a family member for three months. Afterward, we closed on a new house. That same week, we discovered that we were having twins. Life was moving fast.
After the twins were born, my wife was discharged from the hospital. However, we quickly realized that something was wrong. As my wife lay on the couch, she said she didn’t feel good. So we rushed her back to the hospital. Later, due to labor complications, my wife was diagnosed with heart failure.
At first, I didn’t realize how serious this diagnosis was until I realized my wife couldn’t walk or stand up alone. She even had to wear a defibrillator vest because her heart was weak. Eventually, I quit my job to take care of my family full-time.
Challenges
Therefore, we went from two incomes down to zero quickly. So, we had a new home, two new babies, and a 9-year-old with no income to support us. There was a moment when we got a knock at the door. It was the sheriff from the police department telling us that we had to vacate the premises because we failed to pay our mortgage. Thankfully, God did the miraculous and allowed us to stay in our home.
Something New in The Lord
We had our fourth child a year and a half after our twins were born. After our fourth child was born, my wife and I started a business called It’s Reading Time, in which we help children learn how to read. It’s Reading Time has millions of views and is watched in 140 countries worldwide. The Lord also allowed us to appear on news outlets such as NBC, WUSA, WTOP, etc. We have stood on the scriptures throughout our struggles. One is Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” It’s Reading Time is one of the many blessings God has given us over the years through dreams and prayer.
Things began to happen after our fourth child was born and our kid’s show launched. I had dreams like never before. There were dreams of wars and invasions. I dreamed about people wearing masks around their faces and getting injections (this dream was before the pandemic). While awake, I saw family members and friends arguing, fighting, and doing other things. When I asked if these things were happening to them, they said they were. I recorded these things.
Minister Training and Licensing at CLI
At the time, I had no idea what was happening. My wife sought help for me and found a pastor and ministry that understood. That ministry led to joining another ministry where my gifts could be sharpened and utilized for God’s Kingdom. This led my wife and I to get the proper minister training and licensing at the Christian Leaders Institute. I am genuinely grateful for CLI and what this program has meant to our family.
