Get Ordained in North Dakota – A Testimony!

My name is Michelle Rafael Choi, and I am married to my wonderful husband Kurt Joseph Choi. I am one of the blessed Scholar Students of Christian Leader Institute. Get Ordained in North DakotaI was born on B. Rafael Street, Purok Paraiso, Barangay San Vicente, Santa Ignacia, Tarlac, Philippines. I have worked as a Horticulturist in Nantucket, Massachusetts, and as an Agriculturist in Dickinson, North Dakota, where I met my husband. We are currently living in Williston, North Dakota, USA.

I am the only blessed daughter of the late Cipriano Abrazado Rafael and the late Paulina Lacaden Dumlao. My late father was well-known in our community because he owned a lot of agricultural land, including rice fields, vegetables, and fruit-bearing trees. My late mother was a housekeeper. I chose to stay with my mother because I felt her love, care, and protection whenever I was with her. One of my cousins from my father’s side lived with my father.

During my younger years, I was the youngest among my three half-sisters and two half-brothers. My childhood was fabulous. At the age of 7, I started attending Children’s Bible Study, and most of my friends joined me in learning about the Bible. My mother supported my desire to learn more about God by allowing me and one of my sisters to attend an Evangelical Church, while she attended the Catholic Church. My father provided for my needs, but I spent most of my time with my mother.

As I grew older, my mother made me feel like a princess in the family. I really loved my mother because she showed me how to love and be loved. However, our family faced difficulties as we were poor, and some of our neighbors disrespected and mistreated us, causing us to feel ashamed. Despite this, my mother never fought back, and I realized the wisdom of the Bible verse in Exodus 14:14, “The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Tragic events and the loss of loved ones brought me closer to God. I had pursued a worldly path instead of God’s Kingdom, but when I felt broken, empty, alone, unloved, and hated, I turned to God for help. I realized that despite my sins, God loved me unconditionally. When my mother and brother passed away in the same year, I experienced deep grief, but God comforted me and showed me that He had a plan for my life.

I was appointed as a Youth Pastor, and I served the Lord with love and dedication. During my college days, I faced financial challenges but continued to trust God, and He provided for all my needs. I even had the opportunity to study and intern in Israel, an experience that deepened my faith and strengthened my belief in God’s miracles and power.

In 2018, I came to the United States, and I now lead and share the goodness of God in the Filipino Community in Williston, North Dakota. God also restored my relationship with my half-brother and half-sister, and I demonstrated love and forgiveness, which brought us closer to God.

I learned about the Christian Leader Institute and felt inspired to study there because it is free and provides an opportunity to grow in Christianity. My husband encouraged me to pursue my studies, and God provided everything I needed to continue my education.

My spiritual dream is to become a mentor and lead others closer to God. I want to write a book about how God moves in my life, lead my family to be closer to God, support overseas workers in their faith, lead small groups, disciple youth, and be a part of the new generation of harvest for the Lord.

I am thankful to God for guiding me to Christian Leader Institute and for helping me grow in my faith, be productive, and learn how to serve His ministry. I pray for God’s provision in all aspects of my life and my husband’s life, and I hope to have faithful children.
