Get Ordained in Nevada – A Testimony!

My name is Elizabeth Sparks, and I was born in Connecticut and brought up as a Catholic until I was a teenager. At that time, I refused to go to church because I observed how people acted sweet at church, but during the week, God was not a part of their lives. My mom got involved with astrology and reincarnation, which led me down the New Age path. Over the years, I searched for spiritual fulfillment everywhere except with Jesus. I didn’t feel worthy of His attention, but He slowly got through to me through watching Christian television.

Due to marital challenges, I experienced a rebirth and was baptized in 2013. Since then, I have been involved in several ministries in my church, including women’s, hospitality, and children’s ministries. Additionally, I facilitated classes for newcomers and new Christians to the church. Wanting to deepen my understanding of the Word, I pursued an associate degree in Biblical Studies. I continued my education with Christian Leaders Institute and ARMI (Association of Related Ministries International). Now, I am a licensed chaplain and eager to delve deeper into bereavement and grief counseling.

In 2015, I started volunteering in hospice, visiting seniors in care homes and regularly corresponding with them through notes and cards. This is where I became involved in bereavement care and prayer ministry.

I am fortunate to live in Reno, Nevada, where my workplace granted me permission to hold Bible studies. This has led to opportunities for prayer ministry and counseling in the workplace. As more co-workers become aware of my role as a licensed chaplain and the assurance of confidentiality, they approach me for one-on-one counseling and prayer.

Throughout the years, I have done extensive reading, and what I call my “book ministry” has evolved. When talking with people, the Holy Spirit brings to mind a book that could be of help to them. I keep an inventory of books from used bookstores and library book sales so I can give them away as the need arises. This has been very helpful for people seeking extra support in parenting, marriage counseling, grief, and deepening their understanding of the Word in ways that touch their hearts more easily.

Walking with the Lord has been an incredible adventure. There seems to be something new around every corner, making it both exciting and challenging. I am eagerly looking forward to the next turn in the road that the Lord has planned for me. Christian Leaders Institute (CLI) was a gift recommended by a friend who has gone through the training herself, and it has opened up a world of possibilities for future learning and work. I am more than grateful for the flexibility and affordability of the CLI courses and wholeheartedly recommend them to friends and co-workers.
