Get Ordained in Mississippi – A Testimony!

Hello, my name is Delise Barnes. I was born in Alabama and currently reside in Mississippi. I am a wife, mother, Bible teacher, and businesswoman. My heart burns with a desire to share the love of Jesus and how He can transform lives. However, my journey didn’t start that way. In my youth, I made many poor decisions that led to dire consequences. I strayed far from God during my adolescence, coming from a broken home and experiencing divorce myself. It wasn’t until I was 25 that I found my way to church and was saved by God’s grace.

I had a lot of shame and doubted whether the Lord would accept and use someone like me, who had made so many mistakes. But through the stories in the Bible, I learned that God desires good things for all of us, even those who make mistakes. I discovered that God loves me just as I am, mistakes and all, and He loves me too much to leave me that way.

For many years now, I have been running fast after the Lord. He transformed my heart, helped me mature, and granted me forgiveness. I am continually growing and learning about Him, and I am deeply grateful for His forgiving heart. My burning desire is to know more about God and share His love and my story to bring hope and forgiveness to others at the feet of Jesus. That is my spiritual dream.

In pursuit of this dream, I have sought education and training to deepen my understanding of God. My educational journey includes graduating high school in 1993, receiving a two-year trade degree from Southern Union State Community College in 1995, and earning certificates from Transformation Ministries’ School of Ministry and Restoring the Foundations Ministries as an Issue Focused Minister.

I am also certified as a mentor by Light University with their Caring for People God’s Way curriculum and have studied Crisis Care with the Breaking Free curriculum at Light University. I serve as a mentor at Vibrant Cares, a free outreach program through Vibrant Church. Currently, I am a student at CLI, working towards becoming an ordained minister.

In 2017, I Co-Founded Shake the Sheep Ministries, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women break free from bondage and live a life full of freedom. In 2020, my husband James and I founded Ready to Remarry Ministries, where we serve as remarriage guides to help couples heal from their past and prepare for a remarriage that will last a lifetime. We also conduct conferences for churches, helping couples seeking remarriage break the chain of divorce and shame by seeking God to heal their past, taking their time, and learning biblical foundations for marriage.

Throughout the years, I have been involved in teaching Bible studies and serving in various capacities in my church, including volunteering on the growth track, mentoring programs, prayer teams, conferences, and wherever the Lord allows me to serve.

The opportunity to get ordained is something I am extremely thankful for. Challenges like the cost of formal education, being a female, and lack of time to attend a brick-and-mortar school have kept me from achieving my goal of becoming an ordained minister. However, the Lord put it on my heart to seek ordination several years ago. With this ordination, I will be equipped to minister to even more lost and broken people, sharing what the Lord has done for me. This will be especially helpful in my work with women’s prayer ministries.

I am deeply grateful to CLA and CLI for making this ordination possible. I believe the kingdom needs organizations like yours. I love the Lord and am passionate about seeing freedom activated in others through His Word. I am excited to be a part of CLI and all that it stands for. Many doors in women’s ministry and prayer ministry have started to open for me. With this training, I will be readily equipped to step into those roles and help others. I look forward to what the Lord will do as we all move forward into His call.
