My name is Tara. I live in the United States and work as an Emergency Department Nurse in the state of New York. I used to think that being a nurse was my calling. I got into nursing because I wanted to help people. As the years went by, I realized that I was seeing far more death, major illnesses and people at their lowest points in their life than any person could possibly help. I began to feel extremely frustrated. I had worked so hard to be the best nurse I could be but still felt like I was not making a difference.
At the same time, I was also searching for God. I had been raised as a Catholic but although my family dropped us off to Sunday school on Sunday mornings we did not live a life based on biblical principles and never ever read the bible. I eventually walked away from formal religion. I studied on and off with other denominations but never truly committed myself to God. It wasn’t until I was in my early 30’s and already the mother of 3 children that I found Jesus and was saved.
My husband and I have both felt the call to ministry for a while now but with 3 kids, student loans and full-time jobs we had no idea how we could possibly afford the training needed to do what God has been calling us to do. After exhaustive online searches, I came across Christian Leaders Institute. At first, I had to check to make sure that this opportunity was not “too good to be true”. After realizing that CLI was legitimate, husband and I both enrolled.
I feel a calling to Evangelism and local outreach as well as missions. While looking for a mentor we were invited by a pastor from the church we were attending to help him plant a church in the local area where we live. (We had been attending church 45 minutes from our house). The Pastor we are now working with has asked me to be in charge of the local outreach for the new church! This has truly shown me that it has been God that led me to find CLI and plans on using my husband and myself to help plant a church in a spiritually starving area to spread the Good News!
Finding this training at CLI has brought renewed excitement and confidence to my ministry. It has allowed me to pursue Evangelism Training and follow my dreams.The fact that my husband and I were approached and asked to join in building a new church has been a humbling and overwhelmingly joyous experience. Having my husband now be part of CLI is also a uniting experience for us because we motivate each other and we are finding ways to include the kids to show them the joy in serving Christ and following his commission to become “Fisher of men”. (Matthew 4:19)
Please pray for me as we enter into uncharted territory in our ministry. Living in the United States offers the challenges of the overwhelming acceptance of materialism and immorality. People fill the emptiness in their hearts that only Jesus can fill with material objects or immoral behavior and then can’t understand why they still feel empty. Many may have attended a church during the holidays or for a wedding or funeral but reading the bible and having God have a place in day to day living is not a regular occurrence. Please help us pray that we are able to reach the hearts of people who are starving for the Gospel.

Small Group Leader Training

I was born in Venezuela and I am currently leaving in Houston, Texas. I have been in the USA for at least 3 decades. This city is an international metropolis with lots of immigrates coming from similar Spanish cultures with whom I share the language and some culture. So, I am hoping to focus my ministry on this group of Spanish speaking people.
I was raised in a Catholic home. When I came to the US, I accepted the Lord as my savior and was baptized. In a few years, I will be retiring from my secular job. I want to prepare for serving the Lord in the field. And I am hoping this formal education at CLI will help me be more effective in sharing the gospel with people around this area and/or somewhere in Latin America.
The class I have taken thus far has provided me with lots of beneficial information, like the importance of forming good habits, solid basic principles, Bible study Technics, wisdom, solid doctrine, etc. It is like a refreshing wind. I am hoping to continue to grow and learn as I take other classes and receive small group leader training.
For my mission work, I identified more with a Small Group leader. I have helped start several small Spanish missions. I have found I am better at relating to people on a one to one basis and hospitality is one of my spiritual gifts. Some of the challenges in Houston is the size of the geographic area and the lack of good public transportation, but I hope to overcome these obstacles.
My regular Bible reading brings transformation to my life daily. The chapter and lectures from Steve Elzinga were so much on target about the benefits and blessings deriving from having good habits and addressing the seven fronts in the journal to a better personal relationship with the Lord and the world around us.
My local church support is not very defined yet. At this point, I am in transition to a new Hispanic Mission at a local Baptist church.
The scholarship has encouraged me to pursue additional Christian education and to focus on God’s future plans for my life. I do not have to worry about financial means. I am able to solely focus on my dreams and goals.
You can pray for better discernment and obedience to follow the will of God in my life and my wife. Also, for my two adult children to strengthen their personal relationship with God

Community Youth Leader Training

Hello, I am Veronica. I reside in Michigan in the United States. I have always attended church and been involved in some way with church activities for the majority of my life.
My maternal great-grandmother pastored her own church where I attended until her death when I was 11 years old. After this I began to attend different churches, my attendance waned and I quit attending altogether; sometimes for years at a time. During these periods, I often felt that something was missing. So, I would begin seeking out a church home once again.
Eventually, in December of 2007 while assisting with a wedding at a church where the pastor and first lady encouraged me to visit to see what their church was about. I fell in love with learning about who Jesus really was, how big his love was for me, and how he’d gone to the cross of crucifixion willingly for ME! Since these realizations, I’ve never been the same.
I believe that the ministry training that I receive through Christian Leadership Institute will equip me to be an effective winner of souls. My call is to minister to young men and women and redirect them to Jesus. I created a summer youth program that encompassed sports with biblical teachings and principals. The young people came away with a renewed interest in how God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit play active roles in their daily lives when invited in. Training with CLI will allow me to serve my community in an impactful way that could span several generations.
The getting started classes have further encouraged my commitment to see my calling to fruition. I have been exposed to foundational information and tools that will provide a sound standing in whatever path God directs me to. I believe that as a devoted worker for the Lord I will be in my proper place in the body of Christ. My soul rejoices when I share with others the goodness, grace, and mercy of the Savior.
As I think back over the many instances that God has revealed his saving grace in the lives of my family and friends, I know that I whole heartedly desire to be useful in winning souls for Jesus. After spending time creating and leading a summer youth program and subsequently constantly being led in the direction of ministry, I am ready to answer the call.
Getting a scholarship to attend Christian Leadership Institute will allow me to pursue a solid ministry education needed to affect long term change in my community, my family and my church. I am in an urban community where the need for developing a personal relationship with God often takes a back seat to lack of a job, homelessness, hunger, etc. I want the hopeless to know that there is hope. I want to encourage others to seek refuge and healing from a loving and faithful God. I know CLI will help me accomplish my dreams of receiving community youth leader training.
