Get Ordained in Oregon

Are you interested in officiating weddings in Oregon? Maybe you’re considering roles like a ministry chaplain, coaching minister, or full-fledged minister? Christian Leaders Institute (CLI) and Christian Leaders Alliance (CLA) can help you navigate this path and find your calling.

Understanding Officiant Requirements in Oregon

In Oregon, legally authorized wedding officiants include ordained or licensed ministers of any religious denomination and deacons of the Roman Catholic Church. As long as you’re ordained or licensed by a recognized religious organization, you can perform marriage ceremonies.

Steps to Become a Wedding Officiant in Oregon

Here are the steps to become a wedding officiant in Oregon:

  1. Ordination: Get ordained or recognized as a leader in your religious organization. This can often be done through Christian Leaders Institute training and licensing ordination through Christian Leaders Alliance.
  2. Planning the Ceremony: Collaborate with the couple to plan the ceremony, discussing religious content, vows, and other elements.
  3. Conducting the Wedding: Perform the wedding ceremony, following any specific requirements set by the couple and your religious organization.
  4. Completing the Marriage License: After the ceremony, fill out the marriage license with your title, date and location of the ceremony, and address. The couple usually obtains the license from the county clerk before the wedding.
  5. Returning the License: The completed license should be returned to the county clerk’s office within a specified period after the ceremony.

Christian Training with Christian Leaders Institute

CLI offers an expansive training program that meets Oregon’s requirements for wedding officiants. CLI provides comprehensive ministry education and practical training, unlike instant ordination sites.  The course takes about 10 hours to complete and covers wedding ceremonies, premarital counseling, and delivering wedding sermons with professionalism.

Flexible Timeline for Ordination

This program accommodates your pace, especially if you perform weddings occasionally for loved ones. The licensing process requires less than ten hours of study, with just a single recommendation. However, if you want higher ordination levels, you’ll need to delve deeper into studies and secure more recommendations.

Credibility through Christian Leaders Alliance

Your ordination gains recognition and credibility through your membership with the Christian Leaders Alliance (CLA). This association signifies your commitment to thorough training and endorsement from your local Christian community, authenticating your ordination.

Get Ordained in Oregon – A Testimony

I’m Robert Fouts, 52 years old, and I was saved in the fall of 2012. I’ve been married to Keri since Halloween 2014, and we live a humble and simple life in the Central Willamette Valley of Oregon. I grew up here in Oregon and have lived here my whole life, except for the year I was in Orange, CA in 1988 and the year I lived in Las Vegas, NV in 1987 when I graduated from high school.

Jesus saved me when I was at my lowest. I had been homeless and found myself in the company of a crowd I never thought I’d be a part of. Dealing with pain, resentment, and loss of hope, I turned to alcohol and drugs. One afternoon, in the midst of making bad choices, I found myself alone and fell to my knees. I was done living like that and was finally ready to do whatever it took to get out of it. So, I surrendered to Jesus Christ, gave up my pride, asked for forgiveness, and sought an exit plan. I was blessed with both. The forgiveness was immediate, and the plan took a few weeks to come together. But Jesus showed me the way out, and with all the courage I never knew I had, I walked away from that hopeless, sinful life and never looked back. Only Jesus could have saved me; on my own, I was a disaster.

I’m currently enrolled in the Chaplain program as I answer the calling to become involved with the future leadership of our country at every level, with a particular focus on local community governments and the youth who will be our next lawmakers, civic leaders, law enforcement, judges, and such. I’m following the lead of Jesus by enrolling in CLI. I’m not entirely sure where this path is leading me, but I know the education I receive at CLI will be the foundation of what God has planned for me.

Recently, I have completed the Ministry Officiant Skills coursework, and I can now help bring the joy and presence of God to people. This strengthens my connection with the community, and as a future Chaplain, this basic connection will help me establish a longstanding rapport with my greater community.
