I am currently living in Switzerland and attending an English-speaking international church which is made up of people from over 40 different countries. There is a large international community around Geneva and so we are focused on reaching out to them. Ministry here is very transient as people tend to come here on a short-term basis. Coming from so many different transitions, cultures and backgrounds have its challenges but it is amazing how we learn from each other and use this to our advantage in furthering God’s kingdom.

I came to know Jesus a little over three years ago at this same church. I had just moved to Switzerland and was going through a very difficult time when I met some missionaries who attend my church. There was clearly something different about the way they loved people and I wanted to know more so went to church with them. As I began to learn about Jesus and read the Bible for myself I experienced some deep healing from things I had been going through and gave my life to Christ.

My ministry dream is to be able to show the love of God and to disciple others the way that others have shown me his love and discipled me. I have experienced a lot of difficulties in life and I would love to be more effective at reaching out to other hurting people.

This class has been a really good foundation to the training and has deepened my awareness of how to form reproducible, faith formation habits. I did not grow up in a Christian household and so the teaching on family devotional times was something I am so thankful to have learned! I currently and a youth leader and run the youth activities for the younger youth (11-14) at my church

I was given the opportunity to preach at my church for the first time a few months ago. People had been telling me for a while that I should consider full-time ministry but until the evening I first preached I wasn’t so sure. I was really nervous, but the second I stepped up and began talking I felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be. Nothing fills me with so much joy.

I live in a very affluent area and therefore many people see themselves as not having a need for Jesus as they already have everything they need. There is a sense of taking the freedom to practice our faith for granted. Coming from a church with many denominations, cultures, and languages also has its challenges.

I became a Christian when I opened my very own Bible for the first time and read about the healing power of Jesus. Every time I read the Gospels, I find myself transported back to that moment when I first gave my life to Christ. It refreshes my spiritual walk.

My church has been my cheerleaders from day one! They are the most encouraging and supportive group of people I have ever met and I am so thankful for them! They really have become my family! I live in Switzerland alone, my parents are back in the UK and they have had a harder time understanding my desire to go into ministry until they recently listened online to a sermon I had preached and they called me to tell me they wanted to support which was an amazing thing to hear!

Ministry training is something I have been looking into, but there was just no way I could have afforded it! I live in Switzerland, this has completely become my home. With CLI offering online ministry training in Switzerland, I am able to stay here in my home. But it is a very expensive place to live and I really struggle financially. CLI also means that I can stay serving at my home church and don’t have to move away from the ministries I love and my church family who support me in order to receive training. Please pray for peace and being able to assess priorities as I undertake this online ministry training in Switzerland.

Adelaide Agyapomah Dankwah is my full name. I am a Ghanaian, born in a town called Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region of the country. I hail from two towns in this same Eastern Region. The towns are Pepease and Obomeng respectively.

I was born on 5th of October 1991, into a family of five siblings – two males and three females. I am the second among the five.

The majority of people in my country are Christians and doing ministry in this country is not a big deal even though it would require a lot of inputs to get there.

My family is a Christian family and Presbyterian. I got baptized at age 18 when I consciously accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior who died because of my sinful nature.

My high school education was kind of tedious because my parents were not financially sound to support my education and I have to engage in menial jobs as selling candies and assorted foodstuffs to acquire funds to support my education. What resulted from this situation was the fact that my father had traveled to a faraway place for a better job opportunity which left our mother as a single parent looking after us all. As this was more than her, I had to pick myself up and support my education by dint of hard work. By the close of the day, I would be so tired that sometimes, studies become almost impossible.
It did affect my overall performance at the end.

After my Senior High School final exams, I could not perform remarkably. However, in 2009 I got the offer to study nursing but could not utilize the opportunity because the person who promised to sponsor my education through the nursing withdrew his support.

In 2010, I met a man who expressed interest in me and came forward to declare his intent to my family. Sometime later, in 2011, we got married as per our custom. My husband believes that I must realize my goal of becoming a nurse. He wanted me to better my grades by retaking the Senior High School examination. But, after a second thought, we decided I take the General Studies Course at Christian Leaders Institute and then use the certificate to further my studies and take on a program of study in nursing.

This course has rekindled in me the feeling of becoming an evangelist while still practicing my dream nursing. My husband’s gift of preaching and ability to predict the future and also receive messages from the Holy Spirit in dreams prompted me to decide to work on my passion of becoming a nurse and support him.

My Bible connection walk with God has been revived after studying the various steps in walking with God

I believe granted a scholarship to study at CLI, it will enable me to acquire a general studies certificate which will assist me further my education in nursing and then uses that calling to support my husband in his ministry work as he has completed a program of study in divinity (diploma) from CLI and preparing to launch into ministry.

It is my conviction that no matter the circumstances, I must become a nurse in ministry to support my sweetheart.

Philippines bi-vocational education

Philippines Bi-vocational Education

My name is Antonio Manaytay and I am from Ipil, Philippines where I do ministry and make home with my wife and children.

The town where I live and do ministry is one of the places in Southern Philippines considered by the government security officials as a “place of concern” where kidnappings, extortions, and piracy of the sea by Islamic extremists are rampant. It has a long history of conflict between Christians and Muslims in the past, the most recent of which was in 1995 when it was razed to the ground and ransacked by suspected Abu Sayyaf group leaving more than 50 policemen and civilians dead, and the town commercial district including several banks razed to the ground.

Doing ministry as a pastor of a Christian church in one of Ipil’s predominantly Muslim village is challenging: Fulfilling the mandate to preach the Gospel to all nations and reaching out to other beliefs in an atmosphere of respect and love is like walking on a rope. The small congregation I and my wife shepherded for the last eight years is a testimony to the amazing work of the Lord in my life and that of my family – my wife has been an able partner in this ministry entrusted by God to us, and my children who supported us on this journey. One of my sons has become a pastor after he finished his Ministerial Studies and is now the associate pastor of the church.

My Personal Journey, And Call To The Ministry:

My personal journey and the eventual call to the ministry was not without bumps and detours.

When I finished my high school studies at the local school run by Jesuits in our town, I was about to enter the seminary to become a Claretian missionary but the plan did not materialize. I ended up taking a science course in Silliman University in Dumaguete City, Philippines where I met my wife. After college, we decided to get married in 1990, which union is blessed with four boys and a girl.

The life-changing decision to commit myself to a loving relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, after series of Bible studies and guidance by an evangelical pastor, culminated when I was baptized by water on January 17, 1992. That decision, however, was not without its share of trials.

Testing came and I was lost from the way of the Lord. For almost 10 years, that is 2000 until 2009, I was at the darkest hours of my faith. It was the darkest period of my life spending most of it in the valley.

The Lord Is True To His Word

The Lord nevertheless is true to His word, praise Him forever: “This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing but should raise it up at the last day.” John 6: 39 (NKJV). I was restored by the Lord after years of journey in the wilderness in the most amazing way.

The moment of restoration came to me and the whole household when my wife gave birth to our fifth child, a girl, on the evening of July 31, 2009. God used the circumstances surrounding the birth of the child as a moment for me to decide whom I will finally serve. By His grace, I was able to choose Life over Death on that evening. It was sweet and sheer bliss to have my Lord found me again.

The following year, 2010, was when the Lord called me into ministry through a vision. I refused at first because I do not deserve to be His servant but at the end I gave in to His call to “Rise, Go, and Preach.” In the same year, the church was established where my heart resonates with the tasks of a pastor, evangelist, and church planter.

The Lord Uses CLI

The Lord equipped me where I was weak – the lack of formal training in the ministry. I tried to connect with several online institutions for alternative education and training in the ministry. And I am thankful of those which the Lord had used to equip me. CLI has provided Philippines bi-vocational education.

But the longing for deeper and quality studies never left me. I do not have the luxury of time to enroll in a formal seminary for lack of time as a bi-vocational pastor. So I continue to pray and search until God led me to the door of Christian Leaders Institute.

The lessons I learned in CLI are very relevant and a blessing to me. With CLI and the Philippines bi-vocational education, I am able to find the compass of the ministry. It helped to strengthen my walk with God more than anything else as it opens to me, at the same time, the opportunity to earn a degree and accreditation which I am in want of present
