The Importance of Training and Endorsement: Christian Leaders Institute (CLI) offers comprehensive online ministry training that equips individuals with the knowledge and skills required to officiate weddings and perform various ministerial duties. However, CLI’s program is not a standalone ordination process. To be ordained through Christian Leaders Alliance (CLA), you must not only complete the wedding officiant training (takes about 1o hours of study) but also seek local endorsement. This ensures that you are recognized and supported by your local community, giving credibility to your ordination.

Ordination and Credential Management: Once you successfully complete the training and receive endorsement, This is not an online ordination program from ordination mill websites. This program includes study and local endorsements.  Christian Leaders Alliance holds your credentials for ordination at their headquarters in Spring Lake, Michigan. This central repository provides a reliable and organized system for managing your ordination documents. Furthermore, by being part of the Christian Leaders Alliance Directory, your profile becomes accessible to couples and individuals seeking an ordained wedding officiant or other ministerial services.

Understanding Michigan’s Wedding Officiant Laws: In Michigan, the laws governing wedding officiants are defined under the Michigan Compiled Laws, specifically Section 551.7. According to this section, the following individuals are authorized to solemnize marriages in the state:

  1. Ordained ministers of the gospel: Individuals who have received ordination or appointment from a religious denomination, society, or sect and maintain regular communion with their religious organization.
  2. Judicial officials: This category includes judges of the United States, justices of the Supreme Court, judges of the Court of Appeals, judges of district, probate, and municipal courts, as well as judges of federal courts operating in Michigan.
  3. Magistrates and municipal judges: Officials appointed to preside over legal matters in their respective jurisdictions.
  4. Mayors and village council presidents: The mayors of cities and presidents of village councils are also authorized to officiate weddings.
  5. County clerks: In counties with over 2 million inhabitants, county clerks have the authority to solemnize marriages. Additionally, county clerks and their authorized deputies in counties with 750,000 or more inhabitants can perform marriage ceremonies and maintain records of such proceedings.
  6. Out-of-state judges or magistrates: A judge or magistrate from another state or a province of Canada who has been authorized to solemnize marriages under the laws of their respective jurisdiction can officiate weddings in Michigan.

Become Ordained in Michigan – Kayla is expanding beyond the role of a Wedding Officiant.

Who is Kayla Foster and how did she start her faith walk? These might be questions crossing your mind as you stumble upon my ministry profile by happenstance. It is my hope that this account not only reflects my calling to ministry but also resonates with yours. May my story speak to your heart.

I ask you to recognize that the Lord has lifted me up and guided me through a tumultuous upbringing. As you hear my words, I don’t seek your pity, but rather a clear understanding of my credibility as a Christian.

My earliest memories are marked by various forms of abuse inflicted by my stepfather. I was later informed that my biological father had committed suicide while in jail, a fact I had been unaware of until then. I was merely five years old when my father passed away, and I distinctly remember shedding the most tears I had ever cried. To help me cope with this loss, my grandmother gave me the “Footsteps in the Sand Poem.” This poem forever reminds me that Jesus carried my five-year-old self through the pain, neglect, and abuse inflicted by my parents. It was on that day that I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Beyond these memories, many more instances of domestic abuse followed, making it difficult to recall any happy moments from my childhood. Unearthing the few joyful memories requires effort, but I believe God allowed me to endure these experiences so that I may cultivate empathy.

Though my childhood was filled with trials, Jesus spoke to me through dreams and my grandmothers, Kathleen and Chun Cha, who took me to church. Life continued to present challenges, yet I constantly sought structure. In the midst of these tribulations, I encountered individuals of faith who gently guided me back onto the right path whenever I went astray. Jesus sent these shepherds to guide me. He would shower me with gifts in the form of dreams and answered prayers. As a young child, I knew about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, and I prayed to them because I knew they listened. How did I know they would listen? In a home filled with addicts, Jesus helped me prevail at every step, breaking the cycle.

Now, as an adult, I reflect upon those dreams, visions, and answered prayers and realize that Jesus has been calling me to minister the Word of God. His calling remains just as strong today as it was when I was a child. Initially, I believed my calling was in the field of medicine, so I became a Medical Assistant in 2011. Then, I felt drawn to law enforcement, and in 2017, I became a Police Officer. However, I now recognize that I am in the right place, in the right church, by God’s grace. My church has brought clarity to my spiritual gifts. From my home in Holland, Michigan, alongside my husband and three daughters, we embark on a journey wherever Jesus leads us. The free courses offered by Christian Leaders Institute grant me the freedom to embrace and cherish my calling, for which I am truly grateful.

I have completed the Ordained Deacon Minister course, marking a step on the path laid out by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Currently, I plan to pursue a Bachelor’s of Divinity to deepen my knowledge and relationship with our Heavenly Father. I eagerly anticipate the day when I can add the date of my Bachelor’s of Divinity completion to my profile. In the past two months, many wonderful and amazing things have transpired. On October 30, 2022, myself and my three daughters were baptized. I also successfully completed the Wedding Officiant Courses, which will enhance my education and provide flexibility to carry out the work ahead. My journey thus far has been truly remarkable, and I humbly ask for your prayers that these blessings may continue.
