Become a Wedding Officiant in Georgia –  A Journey through Christian Leaders Institute and Alliance

With the rising trend of personalized weddings and the increasing demand for wedding officiants, many individuals are now seeking to become ordained ministers. If you’re in Georgia and wondering how to become an ordained wedding officiant, we’ve got you covered! The Christian Leaders Institute (CLI) and Christian Leaders Alliance (CLA) work together to provide a unique and comprehensive program that enables you to become a legally recognized wedding officiant. Let’s dive into how this works!

The Georgia Laws

In the state of Georgia, any ordained minister or clergyman of any religious society or sect is authorized to perform wedding ceremonies. There is no requirement for the minister to be a resident of Georgia, and the state does not have any stipulation for minister registration. However, the officiant should be in ‘good standing’ within his or her ministry.

What this means for you is simple: once you’re ordained, you’re legal! You can conduct wedding ceremonies anywhere in Georgia, providing you maintain your good standing with your ordaining institution, which in this case is the Christian Leaders Alliance.

The Christian Leaders Institute and Alliance

The Christian Leaders Institute offers a variety of online programs, including a dedicated program to become an ordained wedding officiant. CLI’s unique and self-paced program is designed to accommodate individuals from all walks of life, allowing you to learn at your own pace and on your own schedule.

After completing the required classes and demonstrating a sound understanding of Christian teachings, you will be ordained through the Christian Leaders Alliance, CLI’s partner organization. The ordination process involves demonstrating your understanding of your chosen ministry, obtaining local recommendations, and completing an ordination application. This rigorous process ensures that CLI ordinations are respected and recognized, maintaining your ‘good standing’ to perform weddings in Georgia and beyond.

To enroll in the program, follow these steps:

  1. Create a free study account with the Christian Leaders Institute and get familiar with the Study.christianleaders.org platform.
  2. Enroll in the Christian Wedding Officiant Skills course and commence your training.
  3. After completing the Skills course, you will enroll in the Licensed Christian Wedding Officiant Recognition Class. This class recognizes your online training and completes your ordination into a local geographic endorsement-based ordination credential. Georgia Wedding Officiant Testimony

My name is Christian Powers, and I am originally from Nashville, Tennessee. I currently live with my wife and our three children in Lilburn, Georgia, a small community northeast of Atlanta. I am a licensed architect Become a Georgia Wedding Officiantin the state of Georgia and have been in the industry for over 8 years. I have designed commercial architecture and have also completed some residential projects on the side. What I love most is teaching others, whether it’s about architecture or, even better, the Word of God.

In the 90s through the early 2000s, I grew up in a nuclear family in Hendersonville, Tennessee. I always loved the sense of community in our church and looked forward to the fellowship every week. Growing up in the church, I learned a lot about God’s Word, His love for me, and to some degree, His plan for my life. Although I was baptized and professed Christ at an early age, I don’t believe I truly surrendered my life to Him until my early twenties. It wasn’t until college that I was able to let go of my fleshly desires and fully give my life to Christ, which led me to realize the importance of serving others. It was then that the Lord ignited a fire in my heart to serve Him and His church, His bride.

Since then, I have always had a heart for ministry, although at times I felt limited because I didn’t attend a vocational school for ministry. However, I now realize that God is the one who calls people to ministry, and it has been a blessing to be asked by an extended family member to officiate their wedding ceremony. Even though ministry is not my vocation, I believe the Lord has opened this door for me to bless and teach them, while also growing spiritually myself.

This program has already taught me many of the skills needed for ministry and has encouraged me to pursue further training within the organization. After the wedding, I am interested in participating in theological training, church planting, and life coaching courses. I am excited to continue learning from the resources provided by CLI and to see what opportunities the Lord may present with these acquired skills.

I am extremely grateful to CLI for providing these resources free of charge. After completing this course, I can confidently say that I feel more equipped to lead others in ministry and to share His truth with those around me. I firmly believe that many others who are called to ministry will also benefit from these resources. I pray and hope for the continued success and growth of this ministry.
