Free Chaplain Training

Are you called to be a ministry chaplain in your community? Do you want to access the free chaplain training offered through qualified professors?

Do you feel drawn to the role of a Chaplain, sensing a divine purpose? Are you compelled to assist and support others? Does sharing the presence of God bring you joy and a sense of fulfillment?

Chaplains fulfill important religious responsibilities within specific institutions or organizations. Some individuals serve as chaplains voluntarily or part-time, offering their services to local community organizations like police departments, fire stations, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) groups, and civic organizations. While this role requires some level of ministry training, the certification and clergy recognition programs are less demanding compared to those for full-time professional chaplains.

So, what exactly does a chaplain do? Here are some of their key responsibilities:

  • Organizing and delivering sermons during chapel services.
  • Leading or administering the rite of communion.
  • Conducting wedding ceremonies.
  • Performing official religious rites.
  • Providing counseling and prayers for those in need.
  • Offering spiritual guidance to individuals seeking it.

If you feel a divine calling to serve as a ministry chaplain and wish to receive the necessary training, the Christian Leaders Institute is here to help. We offer a range of classes that will equip you with theological knowledge and practical skills for chaplaincy and leadership roles within the Christian church.

CLI’s Leadership Excellence School makes free chaplain training courses available to you whether you are interested in:

Free Chaplain Training Testimony

My name is Ron Chilton, and I live in North Carolina, United States. I have lived here my whole life. I came across Christian Leaders Institute while looking for training to become a police chaplain.

Salvation Experience

My story starts as a boy growing up in rural North Carolina in a Christian family. I was expected to attend church every Sunday and Wednesday. My grandfather was a Baptist minister and pastor. As I grew older, the Holy Spirit began working on me about my need for salvation. The Spirit was definitely calling me, but I wouldn’t listen.

About one month before I turned 18, the church I attended hosted a week of revival services. One of the services was youth-themed. That night, eight young people went forward and prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior and Lord! The preacher allowed church members to greet the new converts after the invitation. I joined the line and made my way to the front pew. I couldn’t do anything there except sit down. I was under the conviction of the Holy Spirit! A few minutes later, the preacher noticed me and came over to share the plan of salvation and give me an opportunity to receive Christ. The enemy was present, trying to thwart the work of the Spirit. After some attempts at opposition, I relented and cried out to Jesus to save me from my sins! I was forgiven and received God’s grace and mercy!

I share this to let you know that no matter what background you come from, even within the church, each and every one of us still has a need for a Savior in Jesus Christ because He paid our sin debt that we could never pay! He was God’s provision for us!

Calling to Ministry

A few years after I was saved, I attended college. I continued to regularly attend the church I grew up in. I began sensing God telling me to preach His Word. I couldn’t ignore it. Eventually, I met with my pastor to share what God was doing in my life. I then announced my call to preach at my church. The church eventually affirmed my call to preach and licensed me to share the Gospel.

Marriage, Law Enforcement & Ministry

After completing college, I met a young lady whom I started dating. I also entered Police Academy training. Upon graduation, I landed a job that required relocating to another part of the state. By that time, the young lady had become my fiancée. Despite her being early in her career, we decided to have a wedding within a few weeks to avoid being apart. My wife and I embarked on our new journey together!

I have served in law enforcement in some capacity since my first job until the present. My wife has been with me every step of the way. During this time, we have also been involved in ministry. We have been blessed to be a part of two wonderful churches during our marriage and have faithfully served them. We have both served in various capacities in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and the nursery. I have been fortunate to serve as a deacon and lay preacher, filling in at both churches I’ve been a part of, as well as with numerous other churches and ministries. Even now, as I approach retirement from my law enforcement career in the next few years, we continue to serve while preparing for the next chapter.

Ministry & Chaplaincy

Through my time of serving the Lord, I have been placed in positions to aid His work in law enforcement. In the past year, I have had the privilege of being named to a group to help with reorganizing my police department’s community care team and chaplaincy program. The Lord has prompted me to seek training and endorsement as a chaplain. Christian Leaders Institute has become a viable option for receiving that training. Once my retirement takes effect, I plan to serve the Lord in ministry and as a chaplain, supporting law enforcement and public safety.
