Free Chaplain Training Testimony

My calling as I understand it is as an Ambassador for Christ. So, I am to represent Him in all that I am and all that I do as a husband, a father, a friend, a co-worker and as one who serves in the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As I have been called to know Christ, I should walk as He walked and help others to come to know Him and do the same. My desire is to be conformed to Him and serve Him as a new creation in Christ as I receive this free Chaplain training at CLI.

God has brought me in this journey of life beginning with awakening me by his saving Grace now 40 years ago this year. There have been many hills and valleys along the way, but He had always remained faithful even when I was not. The Sovereign work of God in my soul continues to draw me to Him. The Gospel is more and more precious to me, and I find that it is indeed the beginning of our walk with God but is also the essence of our life into eternity. It is the hope, the strength, and the reward of us all who believe. Over the years by His Grace, I have come to desire to know Him more and to serve Him better seeing the beauty of the transforming work of the Gospel every day.

My current defined ministry roles are as a Small Group Leader and as a Chaplain for our local rescue mission. I have also served as a Deacon and Elder in the church. I am seeking to know what God’s will is for me beyond this point. He will guide and direct my steps.

Challenges and Free Chaplain Training

One challenge is my desire to witness more real success in seeing lives transformed in Christ. I want others to know God in a real and vital way. Sadly, so many seem to remain in darkness. Sometimes, my attitude is another challenge to ministry. It can be frustrating when I have a vision but not enough consensus to implement the idea. As Proverbs says, “Where there is no vision the people perish.”

I think the need for more faith and prayer engaged by the church was one of the most helpful thoughts for me from this class at Christian Leaders Institute. Also, Paul’s approach to ministry is useful to realize as I pursue this free chaplain training at CLI. It reminds me that my spiritual service must be by the empowering of the Holy Spirit. I am open to the idea of full-time ministry as an Associate or Missions Pastor or as a full-time Chaplain.
