Chaplain Ministry Training

Chaplain Ministry Training

My name is Tamiko D. Render and I am called to chaplain ministry training. I’m a native of Atlanta, GA of USA. A southern woman with roots in the south, I always had an appreciation for the church, gospel music and the Word of God. In the early 80s, growing up, my father’s work schedule limited the times we could attend worship at a local church, so my mother would read the Bible or explain stories such as David and Goliath. The first book I studied in the Bible was the book of Job at age twelve. Around this age, I felt the calling to learn all that I could about Christ. When I left home for college, I attended church on a regular basis. My knowledge began to grow, and I was more comfortable with sharing the love of Christ to people. As an adult, I became active in the church with a Health and Fitness ministry program. Before this season, I was ill for several years with diabetes and other health issues. My faith was failing because I was not sure how to handle this phase of my life. At this point, faith was all that I had. Then I began to “fight” for my life. Still sick, I started to workout daily and ate healthier. Slowly but surely, my good health returned. It was not easy. So many distractions, thoughts of failure, and giving up crossed my mind. I maintained. Now, I’m delivered from diabetes and other illness. Because of this testimony, I was the minister for two years motivating God’s people in the community to live a life that magnified God and their health within this program under the leadership of my pastor. During this season, I felt my spiritual gifts of mercy, exhortation, and leadership begin to fuel.

Once my chaplain ministry training is complete, I will serve as a chaplain at a hospital and a small group leader in the local church. I identify with the works of the chaplain more than any other. Also, I desire to continue to establish Health and Wellness Ministries throughout my local area. Many people need healing in their bodies and encouragement that they can do it. Many issues that are in the body are related to unresolved mental or spiritual issues. I will develop a wellness program with Christ as the foundation that churches large to small can incorporate to help their members live the best life ever, mind, body, and spirit in Jesus name.

I sought out the opportunity for seminary training for many years and had concluded that I could not afford it. I currently work full-time with student loan debt. I am from a working-class family. I’m doing the average for my profession but not enough to pay tuition. I studied on my own for many years, but I still desired to learn from others officially. This scholarship will help me to achieve the level of chaplain ministry training I need to reach the people I am called to reach. In one sermon, I remember a pastor was talking about giving birth to your spiritual gifts, your assignment. I am so close, and I’m aware of the vision that God has placed in my heart. I have helped many so far, yet I know there are more.

Since my start at Christian Leaders Institute, I’m getting more grounded and confident this is the role that our God wants for me. I have gained so much knowledge that I needed. Even if I do not go any further, I have been blessed by this ministry. Thank you.
