Calvin Seminary’s admission requirement policy states that students applying for admission to the MDiv, MA,or MTS degree programs should have a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) from a CHEA or Equivalent accredited institution and have a grade point average of 2.67 (B-) or higher. However, in some circumstances, an applicant without a bachelor’s degree or with a bachelor’s degree from an unaccredited institution may be admitted into a degree program at Calvin Seminary under a special provision of the Association of Theological Schools.
Therefore, students who complete the Bachelor of Divinity program through Christian Leaders Institute are eligible to apply for admission to the MDiv, MA, or MTS program at Calvin Theological Seminary. Admission decisions are handled on a case by case basis. A limited number of CLI students may be admitted under this provision.
The recommended preparation for those who intend to apply for the MDiv or MTS program is one course each in English and literature and two courses each in history, philosophy, natural science, social science, and speech. In addition, you are encouraged to take four semesters of Greek.
Although Calvin Seminary is not able to accept transfer credit for courses taken at Christian Leaders Institute, Calvin Seminary does offer opportunities to receive advanced standing for some courses by means of advanced standing exams. Information about those exams can be found Calvin Seminary’s our academic catalog here.
