Knowledge Is Power
Christian Leaders Institute recognizes that many people just never received knowledge about disabilities and the effect they have on your life. So we have contacted professionals with a lot of experience in this area to help us equip our ministers. If we can reach the required funds, we’ll begin developing these courses right away in 2020.
These courses will explore important topics like the scope of disability and biblical perspective on disability. Topics like:
- What does the Bible have to say, and how can we effectively communicate God’s love to people with disabilities?
- How we can serve those with drug or alcohol addictions – another key factor in many suicide cases
- Ministering to people who struggle with depression or suicidal thoughts
- How to minister to people suffering emotional, physical, or sexual abuse
With this knowledge through the power of the Holy Spirit, we want to prepare men and women who God calls to minister to people with disabilities. We want you to be equipped with everything you need to know to help save people from the burning fire of despair that torments their minds and hearts. And we pray that you will be God’s instruments in reaching out to people before they reach the breaking point.
So What Happened to Tim?
Tim laid on his bed the night he planned to commit suicide, listening to the breathing of his wife as she fell asleep next to him. It was too late for the warmth of the physical body beside him to creep into his heart. His mind was set. Suicide was the only way out.
But as he prepared to drag himself out into the woods, where he could at least spare his wife the horror of finding his body, a thought occurred to him. If this was it – if this was the end of the line – what about God? He’d grown up hearing all about the afterlife – and the eternal death. In fact, he’d dreamed repeatedly of a scene where he was standing in a line, watching as the people in front of him were picked up and tossed into the fiery lake. And in that moment, he decided that before he went he needed to make sure he wasn’t headed there.
So he prayed. He asked for God to show him that God was real. And it was then that God intervened. Through a miraculous series of events, Tim’s self-appointed death night became the eve of his new life. His wife, a devout Christian from a good family background, led him to the Lord that very night, and he became a new creation in Christ.
Thanks to God intervening in Tim’s life, his story continues to this day. But many other people out there – perhaps even some of our brothers and sisters right here – still need someone to reach out that loving hand into their darkness.
Maybe someday you’ll be the person to encounter someone like Tim. Maybe that’s even one of your goals in life.
But whether you do meet someone or not, you have an opportunity to reach out right here.
Our goal for 2020 – what we need to start production on these crucial new classes – is $125,000. It sounds immense, I know. But when everyone gives just a little bit it’s amazing what we can do.
And I believe with the generosity I’ve seen from our amazing students, we can move this mountain.
