Joel Miller is planting a church near Dallas, Texas. Joel has served as a pastor for 13 years. He was mentored by Alex Haley, the author of Roots. Joel studied in both Africa and Central America, and he served as an officer in the Air Force. He studied at Fuller Seminary and earned a Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, FL. Joel is a national conference speaker and has served as a consultant to churches, providing strategic insight on developing life-giving multiethnic churches. Joel planted Providence Church in Birmingham. Eighty percent of its membership base was either not attending church or became new converts under his leadership. Forty-five percent of the congregation was African American, forty-five percent was white and ten percent of the congregation was international. Joel is a dynamic preacher and gifted leader and evangelist. Joel has been married to his wife Michelle for eighteen years. They have four children.

Almost all have planted a church. Most have international or intercultural mission experience. CLI professors believe that Bible-based home-discipleship builds spiritual strength and intergenerational Christianity.
